Massive Updates to the Dying Light Franchise: Free Weekend for DL1, Stamina Update for DL2, and New Tech for The Beast

Wrocław, Poland – August 19, 2025 – It's a busy summer for Dying Light fans as Techland today unveiled a host of activities across the entire franchise. From a patch for Dying Light 2: Stay Human that aligns the movement to the original Dying Light and Dying Light: The Beast, to a free weekend for the original game, and tech news and exclusive hands-on opportunities for the upcoming Beast, there's never been a better time to head into the Dying Light franchise.

Anticipation is building for Dying Light: The Beast, which launches September 19. On Monday, Techland and Nvidia announced that Dying Light: The Beast supports DLSS 4 and Ray Tracing - check out this new “RTX On”-trailer. The game will also join GeForce Now on September 19 directly at launch. Fans who can’t wait any longer can get a glimpse at gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany. Visit Castor Woods in hall 6 and get a free burger from Bober’s Burgers on-site!

Play Dying Light for Free This Weekend

Before players head to Castor Woods, they can revisit where it all began. Play the original Dying Light for free during Steam’s Free Weekend from August 21-25 and experience the tense atmosphere and horror that is the inspiration for Dying Light: The Beast. You can also dive into Kyle Crane’s origin story, now looking better than ever with June’s Retouched Update.

Dying Light 2 Gets Stamina Patch

Meanwhile, the citizens of Villedor are getting an update on how to roam the city in Dying Light 2: Stay Human. Today, the Stamina Patch changes how you parkour. Based on community feedback, this update brings the gameplay experience closer to the original by removing stamina costs for core parkour moves, allowing for more fluid traversal. Learn more about other changes in update 1.24 on Pilgrim Outpost.

"This summer is all about celebrating the entire world of Dying Light with our incredible community," said Tymon Smektała, Dying Light Franchise Director. "Whether you're taking your first steps in Harran, exploring the new freedoms in Villedor, or getting a first look at The Beast, we're committed to evolving and expanding this universe."

Cute but deadly: the G.R.E. Mascot Bundle

And the fun in Dying Light 2 doesn't stop there. Put on the suit of the former G.R.E. mascot, Globby the Elephant, and protect the kids from the nasty monsters that interrupt their playtime. This new bundle is available in the in-game store right now and features not only the Big Globby Outfit, but also a cute but nasty plush explosive.

The G.R.E. Mascot Bundle contains:

Big Globby Outfit: Your once-smiley elephant suit used to bring a smile to the faces of little kids. Don the suit and take out zombies to bring back some of that joy to the world.

The Squasher: Squishes and squashes every enemy. The more stamina you use up on your hammer swings, the bigger the impact they’ll have.

Lil Globby: It says “I love you”... then it explodes. This plushie lures enemies in and detonates with a blast radius 20% larger than that of your standard grenade.

Playtime Paraglider: The sky is your playground. Why would you ever want to come down? Every turn, every spiral, every weight shift becomes part of the fun.

To cap it all off, we’re introducing a time-limited Dying Light 2: Summer Edition and the Summer Edition DLP Pack on PC, both offering you extra currency to customize your outfit! We’re also starting a franchise-wide sale beginning August 19, with discounts of up to 80% on Dying Light and 70% off Dying Light 2: Stay Human - the best value yet.
