6 Million Downloads and Counting: BlazBlue Entropy Effect Goes Global on Mobile Today

July 22nd, 2025 - Today, the mobile version of BlazBlue Entropy Effect, the action roguelike spin-off of the BlazBlue game universe, is available on Google Play and the App Store. The mobile version of the game was previously only available in China, where it has been downloaded more than six million times. BlazBlue Entropy Effect will be supported on mobile in 9 languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Spanish-Spain, Portuguese-Brazil and Russian, and continue to be free-to-play with three playable characters to choose from.



Charged Up and Ready to Go
Once downloaded, players can choose from one of three original characters — Es, Mai or Hibiki — to play as for free, while others can be unlocked via in-app purchases called “Analyzer”. Each new character from BlazBlue will require 1 or 2 to unlock, and there are no “gatcha” style mechanics! Simply earn, then redeem in-app currency for the desired character. The free crossover character ICEY will become available after players have unlocked a certain number of BlazBlue characters.

Returning in a New Form
Inhabiting the mobile space may not be new for BlazBlue Entropy Effect. Both mobile players and PC players can look forward to catching up ahead of the addition of The Prisoner from another acclaimed roguelike sidescroller, Dead Cells, on September 1st, 2025. Initially, it was announced at the triple-i showcase this past April, the cross-over content was also recently teased in a new trailer with the confirmed release date, which can be watched on YouTube here. For those new to BlazBlue Entropy Effect, the game reached international audiences first on PC via Steam in Early Access on August 16th 2023, launching into 1.0. In January 2024 Since then, it has sold over one million copies and received over three DLC updates including additional characters Rachel, Hazama, and most recently, Bullet. Developers 91Act have hinted that there are still some surprises in store for the 2025 Roadmap that mobile and PC players will both want to have notifications turned on for.
