Thank you Kinda Brave for sending us this game to review!
Go Fight Fantastic begins with a lively crew flying towards Bid Planet to make a delivery. Their ship is being piloted by a canine captain named Bowie. Not long after their arrival the hatchlings on the planet are kidnapped and your crew sets off to rescue them. The fate of the universe is in their hands!
Go Fight Fantastic is a hack ‘n slash style game where you get to switch between three characters if you’re playing solo, or you can have two other friends play alongside of you online or locally. If a player is defeated, they can be revived by a teammate, but if everyone perishes, it’s game over.
Upon launching the game, you’ll have to decide on playing solo, couch co-op, or online. Sadly, I was not able to find anyone to play with online. If you play solo, you’ll have to assemble your team of three based on the following classes: Archer, Healer, Striker, Tank. The archer is great for fighting long distance and is especially useful for the giant spider mini-boss. The healer can heal themselves and can resuscitate fallen teammates faster than the others. The Tank and the Striker are both close range fighters so it’s a tossup on which is more useful. I preferred using the Tank for my playthrough which took less than three hours to see the credits.
Despite the story mode being short, there is replay value in playing on different difficulty levels and the Horde game mode. In Horde mode you have to see how many waves of enemies your team can survive through. Between each wave you get to pick a stat boost like increased health, damage, speed, attack rate, etc. The enemies get stronger with each wave as well so be prepared for a challenge.
Strong Points: Online and local co-op available; runs well on the Steam Deck (may have to adjust the resolution)
Weak Points: Takes less than three hours to complete
Moral Warnings: Cartoon violence; one of the levels has a monastery; the female boss characters like to wear one-piece bathing suits
The story mode comprises of six chapters and you’re returned to the ship after each of them to customize your characters and ship as desired. As you play through levels, you’ll accumulate money which can be used to purchase ship decorations and meteorites which boost the stats. Meteorites are often dropped by enemies or are hidden in rock-like chests so keep your eyes open for them as you explore the levels. Be sure to examine and compare the meteorites that you have gathered, they have different ratings ranging from common to epic.
Meteorites can increase your character’s health, attack power, speed, luck, ability power, decrease their cool down, or grant them the ability to life steal. Even with three slots to work with, you still wish you could equip more!
Go Fight Fantastic levels are typically locked until a certain number (or all) of the enemies are defeated. Sometimes you can skip ahead and I was accidentally able to do so during a mini-boss fight and was not able to go back to finish it off. Instead I had to proceed to the level’s boss with an extra health bar on top of my screen. Other than that glitch, this title ran well for me.
The game’s rock background music is catchy and you can change the tunes after you acquire music discs scattered across the universe. The ship has a jukebox onboard. There’s no voice acting to speak of, but the sound effects are good.

Go Fight Fantastic has hand drawn artwork and it’s very colorful and looks great. There’s a decent amount of enemy variety and quite frankly, many of them are annoying. One of the enemies has the ability to harpoon your character and draw them in closer. This is quickly followed-up by an area of effect attack. Another annoying ability is that multiple enemies release a black orb upon their demise. If this orb is not shattered fast enough, the enemy will respawn. The bosses are unique and intimidating. Many of them have multiple health bars to deplete before they meet their maker.
As a hack n’ slash game, violence is a given. There’s no blood and the enemy corpses quickly vanish. Female bosses like to do battle in one piece swimsuits for some reason. Lastly, one of the levels takes place at a monastery.
Go Fight Fantastic is a decent game with pretty visuals. If you’re looking for multiplayer action, make sure you have friends to play with as I found the online matching lacking. Because of this, I recommend holding off for a sale.
