Is very bad for you. XD

A really nice Norman acoustic guitar, a Digitech Chorus Factory pedal, Johnny Cash, Guns N' Roses, and Demon Hunter posters (to go along with my Led Zeppelin and Paramore posters that I got for Christmas), a book about the greatest guitars ever made, a year's subscription to Guitar Player magazine, a Bop It (4srs, I loved those things when I was growing up, so my parents got me one for me for old times sake XD), then money from aunts, uncles, and grandmas and a month Zune Pass. :D

It's very very bad. o.o

And sounds like you had a great b-day. ^_^

Do you play guitar regularly?

I did.

And, I try to play at least an hour every day... I'm gonna be a shredder someday, you know? XD

Shredder ftw. XD

Death metal? Like Cannibal Corpse, Strapping Young Lad, Nile, etc.

I like it... but I don't listen to it that much, due to the lyrics, mostly. I don't mind vulgarity, but I do have a hard time listening music with Satanic themes. I try to just ignore it for the sake of the music that's being played... but sometimes it's just too much for me. That's just my opinion.

I don't really know much about those bands lyrics... so if you could help me out there, I might give them a shot. >.>

Sadly enough, I don't know much of anything about their lyrics. Sorry, I'm just not a "lyric guy". I tune in more to the instrumentation than the words, it's just how I've always been.

Buuut I can go on what I do know.

Cannibal Corpse is, well, evil. It's what I'm told, at least. They're supposedly satanic in nature... and about as bad as a band gets. They sure are fast and fun to listen to, but not "safe" in any way. o.o

Strapping Young Lad... they're weird. But awesome. I don't think they've got a lot of "bad" stuff in their lyrics, aside from swearing (which there is a lot of; songs like Sh-tstorm and F---er attest to that XD). They're weird, I'd give them a listen and judge for yourself... yeah. As right now, weird is all I'm coming up with. XD

Nile... I don't think they've evil, really. They "sing" about Egyptian gods, culture and stuff, so if that offends... then yeah. They're actually classified as "Egyptian Death Metal", or something like that. XD

But they're very good, very awesome. I think they're one of the "cleanest" death metal bands out there. I recommend checking them out on Youtube. ^_^

Arch Enemy... hmm. Not exactly sure if they're classified as death metal or not, but they're pretty awesome. Probably in my top three death/close to death metal bands. They're very good. o.o

Dunno about their lyrics, though I believe they're safe. Not much swearing and whatnot, and I'm pretty sure they don't sing about satanic stuff at all.

Fear Factory. Whoa. Check these guys out... they're mind blowing. Not sure on the lyrics, but I don't think they're satanic/demon related.

The Agonist is melodic death metal with some metalcore thrown in. They're... well, you know that they're one of my favorite bands all time. I think their lyrics are more liberal/RAtM like than anything (though I could be wrong, just going on what I know), and they're faaaaar from "evil", imo. Also Alissa, as I've said... is amazing vocal wise. o.o

There is some swearing, though.

Aaaaaand going to bed/getting off. But that's a starting point. At least check out some of 'em and lemme know what you think.

Sound like a plan? XD

If you're at all interested, I'd be happy to show you some of the few good Christian death bands.

Admittedly, 95% of them suck, no reason to ignore the 5% though.

Been doing anything interesting?

Thanks for all the info. :D

Like I said, cussing/profanity doesn't bother me at all... and I can usually get past most of the "evil" lyrics (I'm listening to Iron Maiden as I'm writing this XD) for the music itself.... just sometimes it's a bit overboard for my liking.

Sure, if you don't mind. I know about The Famine, and like them... but that's about it.

As for your question... nah, I haven't really been up to anything interesting lately. :P

No prob.

Do female metal singers deter you?

Let's see....

Aletheian - technical death. IMO, the sound takes some getting used to. Not quite as "brutal" as something along the lines of Cannibal Corpse, but it's good.

Mortification - death. Eh, people apparently like them. I've heard worse, I've heard better. Only album I like at all is Scrolls of the Megilloth. Basically, obnoxiously preachy. And I hate that.

Ethereal Scourge - death. Eh, there were a few good songs on their only album. It may be worth buying, especially since it can be found used on Amazon for under $1. IMO though, still too preachy.

Paramaecium - death/doom. Admittedly, they have a tendency toward more doom than death. However, you may like it. They do base several songs and an album on the Bible, but it doesn't some off as preachy to me.

And... one more.

Dagon - death/thrash. Yeah, Dagon's a pagan god. And no, this is not a "Christian" band per say. However, they are on a primarily Christian label, which puts them about the same as The Famine, who pretty much deny being a Christian band. Lyrically, it's all about ocean myth and HP Lovecraft. Only thing I'd warn about is that it's decently violent.

And...that's all I'm gonna post atm. Tell me if you see anything you like, I'll need to upload to Youtube if you wanna hear anything more.

Thoughts?

I'd add Holy blood in there...not because it's harsh metal. But because it's awesome. :D

No... I think it's cool that chicks can growl like that... albeit a little weird, but it's still cool. XD
