I might be wrong, Pheonix, but I'm pretty sure Mario is pretty much a universal icon. It might be because people say, "I'm going to play Mario," when they want to play a game, or, "I'm going to play Nintendo," when they're really wanting to play a Playstation.

That's just me, though.

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

You... didn't... just... do that... did you?

If you attribute that line to Luigi in Brawl instead of Mario in Mario 64... I... might just feel a little bit of my inner-gamer die.

...

Also, bacon.

I think it's the what Luigi says in Brawl that makes me remember it.

Brawl? I liked Melee better. All the characters in Brawl move too slowly.

I'm looking at you, Snake.
My name is ChickenSoup and I have several flavors in which you may be interested

Are... you serious? Both of you fail. It's what Luigi says in Brawl, yes. It's also what Mario says in Mario 64. But he also says it in just about every Mario game ever. So, um... epic fail?

Was it said prior to Mario 64? I don't recall that. Yes... epic fail on my part if so. If, however, Mario 64 is the game that made "Let's-a-go" known... then I demand an apology.

I'm pretty sure I heard it in Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. 3 on the GBA. I could be wrong, though.

A GBA reissue wouldn't count; I'm talking release dates here.

Now I really need to know when "Let's-a-go!" first happened. That's... really... really sad.

...

Yay for being a shoe-in for a job!

No, I distinctly remember the "Let's-a go!" from Super Mario World. However... they've all blurred into a single game of Mario jumping goodness.

And wow. I just realized how long I've been playing Mario games, in one form or another.
