Launching a blade is impractical. Better a dart or bolt.

Arrows are blades glued to the end of a stick. At least broad head hunting arrows.

What about spears?

Yeah...that's kind of what I thought. Because you watch those older movies, where alert samurais guard the castle, and the ninja sneaks up, grapples over the wall, and slits the throats...and I'm like "Uh...alert samurais?"
