Not really. So many of them revolve around microtransactions or pestering your friends - or both - that most of them aren't worth playing.

There are a couple of games that I do like, though. One is "Words With Friends," which is a lot like Scrabble. I also play "Dragon City," and have been able to make considerable progress through that game without having to spend a penny. I used to play "Bejeweled Blitz" quite a bit as well, but not so much any more.

That can also be an annoyingly effective way to remove characters from a tabletop D&D session.

"Your character has inhaled some mold spores and has now become a fungus zombie. No saving throw."

I did try a game of VGA Planets a while ago with a bunch of friends in the area. The game went on for about a year before two of the players declared victory and the game ended. My race had only engaged in one fight and was nowhere near the top of the tech tree (it was play-by-e-mail, with us needing to turn in one turn a week at least. They managed to max out their tech by turn . I still don't know how exactly I lost or what was even going on... needless to say, I haven't really been inclined to play since then.

Nice. XD I hate it when that happens. But playing my e-mail sounds interesting...But I don't know if I could get people into it.

I was thinking Heroclix, since my local comic shop has started having tourneys.

In addition to Argonians, though, I also enjoy dark elves and Nords. While playing Morrowind, I always got a laugh with being able to shrug off fireballs or iceballs and pressing the attack on the atronachs or spell-slinging foes.

I'm considering getting into Heroclix, since my local comic shop is having Heroclix Wednesday. Seems fun, but I haven't played it. The thing that's holding me back is that it's basically a TCG with tiny plastic figures.

Good question! There's a lot of well-written villains out there. Magneto tends to be one that I gravitate to, though. I often like Dr. Octopus, too.

Well...ish. The trick is not to binge buy, but build up your army slowly. It's the same with Warmachine. I've spent probably (including gifts) $180-$200 on Warmachine stuff, but that's over the course of 8 months or so. So what...$20-$25 a month? Not terribly expensive for a hobby.

I'm afraid that the "GOTTA COLLECT THEM ALL" nature of Heroclix would be a problem though. So you might very well be right.
