I usually just use headphones and music to keep the noise back. Not perfect, but usually works well enough.

I did too - before my computer went into exile. They complained about that too.(and luckily they didn't know I was listening to anything or -

They said I was trying to block them out, or something like that.

Man, lying in this bathtub with a laptop on your knees is really uncomfortable. (But it's worth it... /sigh)

man... I can understand the original arguments (parents have a decent reason to worry about kids on the internet). However the headphones and blocking them out? That just seems crazy to me.

Considering that I have a brother living in the same room and two other brothers that pop in all the time, their concern was groundless anyway.
