Does a surprisingly OK job of preserving the original story (before I get rightfully beaten down for that, allow me to qualify with "for a play-to-book-to-movie" adaptation) of Romeo and Juliet. Literally, I was surprised. In light of the butchery jobs that are typically "let's turn this into a movie" I didna go into it thinking "Romeo and Juliet". And I enjoyed it.
Spoiler:
Bonus points for changing the melodramatic OG ending (and making a point of that), and referencing other historical literary works throughout. Ala "The taming of the Glue" brand glue. XD And for casting freaking Patrick Stuart as Shakespeare. O_o
Wouldn't stand up to a proper reading of the play, I think, but fairly good as a movie.
Eh, all those Shakespeare references seemed really forced and not too clever. I mean, I was happy that I could pick them out, but as a whole the movie felt very disjointed and...creepy. It made me wish
Spoiler:
Gnomeo and Juliet actually did die at the end....oh they were so close.
That said, it is a kid's movie, so I can't be too harsh on it. It definitely wasn't unbearable and imagining Jason Statham as a gnome makes me giggle. [I couldn't believe I didn't recognize Patrick Stewart, I kept trying to figure out who that voice was because I recognized it, but alas.]

Well, Elton John had a hand in making the movie...you really can't expect that much.
Spoiler:
I wondered for a moment, if they actually were going to die. A slight element of surprise entered back into childrens movies for me with the end of How to Train your Dragon. But I was, admittedly, glad for the hollywood ending. The drama of Romeo and Juliet, or rather the big wompey bunkuss people make over it, has always annoyed me. So I was rather glad they did not die. Can't make that make sense...just one of those things.
I'm not sure who that is...but imagining anyone as a gnome is enough to make me giggle. Even just a random guy walking down the street, gnomified. Man that's fun to do. I think you've just given me a new hobby. XD

Red Dragon
'Twas okay, if a bit dragged out at times. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, I guess.

The Fighter - This is a good movie, I really liked it! Based on a true story. It reminded me of The Wrestler and it's just as good IMO and less depressing. Great acting, especially by Christian Bale. Lots of rough language though as is typical for the kind of people it portrays. I liked Amy Adams' character, she really had Mark Wahlberg's character's best interests in mind, she's plays a tough but well-meaning woman. Recommended, and you don't have to be a boxing fan to like this movie. 8.5/10
London Boulevard - I watched this because I enjoyed the previous work of writer/director William Monahan (such as his screenplay for The Departed), but I didn't like it very much. It reminded me of The Killer Inside Me in that it's well made and well acted (this one more so than Killer) but also pretty nasty, there's just a lot of despicable people doing despicable things with no one to root for or care about. There's hardly a single sympathetic character in the whole movie. I know the people in Guy Ritchie movies are also scumbags but those are funny movies and he manages to give you something to like about his scumbags. That's not the case here, there are only awful unredeemable people in this movie with few exceptions. Still not as bad as The Killer Inside Me though, which I really didn't like. 6.5/10

Shutter Island
Not what I was expecting, and definitely not very scary. Yep, saw the twist early on, but the way they pulled it out was quite interesting. Overall, I enjoyed it. 7/10
The Fighter
Ha, I found it funny that we both just watched this, Harvester. XD
I also really liked it. The language was a bit ridiculous at times, but getting past that, this is a very moving film. 9/10

Presumed Innocent
A tad slow, I skipped some unnecessary parts, and I was distracted a bit because I was chatting on Facebook at the same time. Still, I enjoyed it.

Mulan - This time, I picked this one.
Nim's Island - Decent kid's movie, but I was never a Jodie Foster fan and she somehow steals the show.
