Part of that was filmed in a town (Olean, NY) not far from where I live. Random fun fact.

I last watched 3:10 to Yuma On Blu-Ray. Pretty great.

What a horror movie should be. I'm not really sure at what point in time things went south and devolved into violence/sex filled teenage romps...I want to say Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but I think it started earlier in the 60's.

Tron Legacy: not bad but I enjoyed the first one better, cool CGI and I like how many of the original cast were in this one. It's a shame they had to threw new age religious stuff into it.

Had no choice but to watch it...As a Narnia movie, it was utter trash. An insult to the books, and generally "wow...did you even read the book or just get someone to tell you the character names"?

Storyline was changed completely and butchered...like...utterly and completely. Even Caspians motivation for sailing. They also threw in the (modern age, anyway) inevitable struggle for power. In a word, Ewwwwwww.

However...as "Some sort of ship-based action movie with a surprisingly good moral message (Which, incidentally, was actually closer to the book than any of the other movies, gross story massacre aside)"...it was actually really good. XD

If I don't treat it as a Narnia movie (which is, admittedly and quite apparently, one of my favorite book series ever) then I actually really enjoyed it. I'd watch it again. They actually seemed to nail something here. I would even go so far as to say it was the most enjoyable of the three. Plus, the effects and CGI were cool...the sea serpent was one of the best I've seen, and the Isle of Darkness just looked cool.

I guess I'm just extra-sensitive since Dawn Treader is my favorite Chronicle. There were certain things that were done well (Lucy's jealousy, the Eustace dynamic, sea monster) and then there were stupid things that never should have made it on the storyboards (the green mist was stupid, the slave trade sequence was way too short and way too crappy, the whole seven glowy swords thing, etc). And while the special effects improve with each film, there were some cheesy shots that were almost embarrassing to look at, like all those corny B-movie shots of the Dark Island and the awful lightning with the sea monster near the end.

The word is Magician's Nephew is up next for the slaughter. I'll probably continue to see them, but I'm not sure I'd want my future kids to have this poor substitute for good storytelling.

I've seen dozens of movies since I've last posted, but the most recent one is Aladdin: King of Thieves. Still cheesy, still wonderfully funny and random, thanks to Robin Williams. I'm pretty sure they tried to fit every single Disney character in just for kicks, but it's still great fun.

Emph. Read my first post. The first one was a huge disappointment, in that I was hoping they'd take modern CGI and film tech and make a wonderful Narnia journey, only to get a huge disappointment in that the story was broken. Not terribly, but terrible enough.

I was looking forward to Prince Caspian too, as I'd hoped it would redeem the series. But (to me, no offense intended) it was actually worse than the first, and made me want to fart and throw some sort of decroded pudding at stuff. Terrible.

So going into the third, I knew they'd butcher it in nightmarish fashion, so I took it as "Some sort of Ship-Based action movie (with a positive Moral message)!" and actually enjoyed it the most of the three as taken in a "not-related to the book" way.

Though...I'm confused as to why The Magicians Nephew is next and not the Silver Chair...The Silver chair is my 2nd favorite and next in order. :\ I would think The Magicians nephew would be the harder to make too...

Hmm...I watched part of Dial M for Murder earlier, but only enough to identify Ray Milland.

...in my defense, I was really bored when I decided to watch this.

Dinner for Schmucks - It's gotten bad reviews but personally, I liked it. This is more my type of humor than The Other Guys, another recent comedy which got much better reviews but which I didn't like as much.

Megamind - Also really liked it. Dreamworks animated films are hit and miss for me, this one was a hit. Liked it more than that other supervillain animated movie, Despicable Me (but that one was decent too).
