Pretty good cop movie, and might be pretty realistic as far as I can tell. However, in order to enjoy this movie, you have to not be offended by hearing the F word countless times. (and there's some nudity).

Oops. It's because I saw a trailer for Lottery Ticket (or whatever the heck it's called) right before I watched it. The same applies though.

Also, par for the course on said page... I last watched Inception. Excellent. Gonna have to watch a second time to pick up the stuff I missed. That said, I don't think it's a movie I'd want to watch again and again.

It's your constant viewing of Syfy. There's really no other reason.

Showed the first Shrek movie to my best friend. She enjoyed it and now also wants to watch the other Shrek movies with me. I also enjoyed watching it again.

Angels and Demons

WAY Better than The Da Vinci Code. It didn't feel like a propaganda statement, or at least not a thinly veiled one. It was enjoyable, and even tackled some issues in ways I appreciated. (Like the idea that science and religion are not mutually exclusive)

Also, Ewan McGregor = win.

Well, when it wasn't getting bogged down in various religious vs. science prattle, it was actually pretty good. It did leave the door wide open at the end, but that doesn't excuse the stark portrayals of scientists as "Misunderstood geniuses who are some of the only smart people" and religious people as "Stark raving lunatics".

When it got to the point of the movie, science fiction, it was really incredible. If the contrast had been a little less intense, maybe like Angels and Demons up there, I would give this movie an A. However, the message it was trying to get across came off too strongly for what I expect and want from science fiction.

Mystic River

First off, I haven't read the book. I probably should. With that out of the way, I can say that I don't think the story translated to film as well as it could have. It occasionally got bogged down with dialogue-heavy sequences that really didn't seem to add to the movie. Further, there wasn't enough reason given for me to care about certain elements of the characters, especially with Sean (Kevin Bacon).

However, the acting was by far some of the best I've ever seen. Sean Penn certainly deserved his Oscar here. The rest of the cast also did an incredible job. Further, barring a few scenes towards the middle, the movie did do a great job of making me care about a lot the character's plights.

Like I said, I should probably read the book. It might do a better job explaining the story, and maybe some of the sequences will make more sense.

The Prestige

I was pretty impressed by this movie. It showed the effects of obsession, the cost of greed, and was above all a very enjoyable film. The only problem I found was that the character you are supposed to care about seems to change to the point that I began to not care about either. While it did wrap this up more towards the end, it was more distracting for the earlier parts.

This movie further showed me just how little my family "Gets" media. They thought it was one-dimensional, just like they thought 2001: A Space Odyssey was "The worst movie ever". Remind me to show them Plan 9 from Outer Space some time.

Yeah, Mystic River and The Prestige are very good, I have both of them on DVD. I like The Prestige just as much as Inception even though Inception has more exciting action sequences and inventive visual effects.

I also recommend Gone Baby Gone, it's also a Boston set crime drama just like Mystic River, based on a book by the same author. It does have a lot more violence and strong language though (thought I should warn you).

A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Don't ask why.

Basically, this movie makes the list of movies best seen plastered, right up there with Stalker and Metropolis.
