Not really, I choose to watch only the most critically acclaimed Dutch movies because the rest is mostly crap. I think I watch less than 5 Dutch movies a year. I did happen to watch a few (4) in the last couple of months, but that's an exception, usually months go by without watching one.

We also watched a Dutch movie yesterday night, but I'm not going to talk about it at length because it's not been released abroad so no way for you guys to watch it except by illegal downloading. I will only say that it was a very sad movie about a person dying from cancer, my best friend couldn't stop crying and I was moved by it as well.

But if you're going to watch one Dutch movie: pick Black Book, it's pretty good.

Resident Evil: Afterlife
Was okay to watch once. Worth renting if you liked the other Resident Evil movies. 7/10

Exam
Interesting little indie movie. It's similar to the movie Cube in the sense that it's a movie about a bunch of people who have to solve a puzzle, and then they turn on each other and stuff. But it's less of a horror movie than Cube was, there are no gruesome deaths in this one. The storyline kept me interested throughout. I might buy this one when it drops in price. 8/10

Well... the enjoyment, anyway. Didn't watch it recently.

Did watch 2001: A Space Odyssey last night. Definitely think that a lot of its effectiveness has been lost in the 40+ years since its release. A big deal for the time? For sure. Still as meaningful today? Nooooot so much.

It's also boring as crap. A movie doesn't have to be entertaining in the common sense to rate well with me, but it does need to be engaging (and I think you can have one without the other). Definitely didn't feel engaged with more than five or ten minutes of the movie. The rest was a lot like space travel; taking forever to get where you're going... bored the whole time along the way.

I guess you're just not a fan of Clarkeian Sci-Fi.


The Da Vinci Code

Well. It was interesting until it hit about the 30 minute mark (When they met with Teabing). After that it quickly become one of the hokiest movies I have ever had the displeasure of viewing. XD

The Ring

Really weird. But I like weird. I adore weird. So naturally, I really enjoyed this movie. Granted, it wasn't perfect, but it was a very well-done horror remake. Now i need to see the Japanese original. XD

Men in Black II

It was...alright. It's been forever and a day since I've seen the first so maybe it wasn't as appealing to me, but I thought it was a roughly average comedy-science fiction.

Not gonna lie, but this movie exceeded my expectations. Blew them out of the water, in fact. I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. Jackman was a little more tolerable this time around, even though they didn't focus on the characters as much as I'd have liked.

Also, Ian McKellen as Magneto = best idea in X-Men history. Or close to it.

Went to the theater for only the third time this year, hoping to see either VotDT or True Grit. Ended up seeing neither, but Gulliver's Travels instead. Fortunately I am a Jack Black fan, so I didn't die.

It's an ideas movie. The ideas and philosophical themes that 2001 touches upon, are every bit as relevant today as they were when the movie came out. You can pick apart this movie for hours. I found it fun to read essays on what Kubrick wanted to say with this movie, there is an unbelievable and almost unrivaled amount of depth in this movie.

It might be less effective today but that's mostly because audiences have changed, they're not used to such slow movies anymore where you have to figure stuff out for yourselves.

Anyway, I totally get why people think this movie is boring, but I find it a very fascinating film. Transformers 2, now that's boring (to me).
