I do a weekly movie night with one of my friends, we eat together, chat, then watch two movies. Last wednesday we watched Robin Hood and Iron Man 2, both of which I thought were pretty good (I'm a huge Ridley Scott fan, and although I thought his movie Gladiator is still better, I also really liked Robin Hood). I might buy those movies or ask them for Sinterklaas (a Dutch gift-giving holiday, from which the name Santa Claus was derived).

And with my best friend (female) I watched Orphan, which I consider one of the best and most suspenseful thriller/horror movies of the last year. She liked it but also found it to be a little bit too scary for her taste, I had to assure her that certain movie characters would not die in the movie, or else she didn't want to keep watching, she gets really emotionally involved in movies.

Jonah Hex

Yep. I liked this movie. I liked this movie a good bit. Not mindblowing, but I don't require that in order to enjoy a movie.

I mean... it was a western... sorta. It was also a supernatural movie... sorta. It was interesting, creative, and pretty well executed. I don't know how true to the source it was, but I'm definitely wanting to pick up the Jonah Hex comics now.

Seconded, it's really, really great. It has some disturbing elements, but also a very uplifting message that Christians should be able to connect to IMO. Everyone (except children) should watch it, I think.

Here's a good review of it on a Christian review site.

It is really good, but I think some of the content is a little much for younger kids.

Green Zone

First, my main complaint with the Bourne movies shows up here. the camera. Good grief, so shaky I had to look away at times, it was hurting my eyes.

Though, it was really, really good. I'm usually not a fan of this level of politicization in movies, though it wouldn't have been as good a movie without it.

All in all, good, not fantastic, but still awesome.

The Island - All of my friends are like, 'omg, this is so amazing,' and I'm like...eh. It's not bad. Certainly the best Michael Bay film since The Rock, but it's still not great.

Hercules - Heck yeah.

Do you mean the Disney animated movie? It's one of the lesser known Disney movies, but I enjoyed it a great deal. I might buy it on DVD even.

Prince of Persia. Loved it a ton. I wouldn't say it's the best film ever, but I appreciated the little nods to the Sands of Time trilogy and it was fun overall.

The Omen. Great film. Somewhat creepy at times... and Gregory Peck is awesome.

Yeah, I also liked Prince of Persia more than I expected. Fun movie.

Tonight I watched The Wolfman. Not really scary, but the mood and atmosphere (similar to Sleepy Hollow if you ask me), the nice English landscapes and buildings, and the acting and special effects, are all pretty good.

King Solomon's Mines (85).

Meh. Really meh. Basically had nothing to do with the book, which is excellent.

Really just a Raiders of the Lost Ark clone.

Heavy Metal.

Umm.

It's like an acid trip. While drunk. In a room where everyone and everything is tie dyed.

Pretty good. Could have done without the almost-ridiculous amount of f-bombs. Or the entire love story. :P

But solid movie overall.

Shutter Island

Awesome adaptation of an awesome book. The movie was more cryptic than the book though. One of my friends said "What the heck?" after the credits rolled.
