The Other Guys

Another Ferrell/McKay comedy. That's a good thing. As always, there are a lot of classic lines here and Wahlberg and Ferrell play off each other very well. I can't rank it alongside their other comedies, honestly. Bottom line: it's an extremely entertaining action-comedy where Ferrell does a bit more than his usual comedy shtick, and if you like the rest of his work you'll like this as well. Plenty of belly laughs to be had here.

Terminator Salvation

Hmm, I actually enjoyed this. A lot. I wouldn't think it fair to compare this to the previous Terminator movies if only for the fact that the first three were "Robots secretly try to assassinate people in an otherwise normal city" while this was "Man vs. Robots in a post-apocalyptic wasteland"

Despite a few wooden performances (Bale, I'm looking at you), I thought that the casting for Kyle Reese and Marcus was excellent. Great performance on Yelchin's part especially, brought back memories of Michael Biehn from the first movie.

All in all, good, not great, but worth watching.

I agree. Really, really enjoyed this.

Glad someone else did too. :D

2012

While the whole movie was a 2 and a half hour cliche, I admit, it sure was fun. Not exceptional in any way, but fun enough to keep me entertained. And that is all I was expecting from it.

B-/C+ (Kinda split over which to give it)

That was sheer awesomeness.

And after that, I caught a midnight premier of....

The Expendables.

I got to see people stabbed, shot and blown up. All I cared to see in this movie.

Was going to see The Expendables, but my sister doesn't have photo id so instead we saw

Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Pretty fun. What you see in the trailer is pretty much what you get. The fight scenes were extremely fun. However a lot of the plot I just kinda glossed over as a vehicle to get me from fight A to B (to C to D to E to F to G). I would have liked some explanation for the how of the fights. Anything would have worked, Evil Ex #3 has [1] so really anything would have worked for the others. Also kind annoyed me how [2]. Eh, it was still really fun though. Should be mentioned that Scott's roommate is gay and they play that up a bit, just so people know.
Spoiler:
1) ...psychic powers from being a vegan...
2) ...the second and third fights are won by trickery and end anti-climatically

My lady friend didn't want to see Expendables (boo!) so we saw this instead, which I was still hyped for anyway. I loved it. Plenty of action, humor, and dazzling colors. I was in pain and grouchy from the tonsillectomy, and exhausted from the meds, but I enjoyed the heck out of it all the same. A lot of sites have been up in arms about the homosexual content, but I didn't find it that big of a deal. The characterizations were kind of shallow, but it all took a back seat to the fight sequences anyway.

I disagree about the characterizations... but everything else, I'm agreeing with. The couple I was with were almost on the floor laughing... and I was too. XD

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

The Expendables

Totally awesome. Lived up to my hype. Had some minor problems, but they don't really matter in a movie like this.

Perception-bending to say the least.

Enjoyably awesome, with a deep story, even if it did seem to steal a lot of things.

Loved it just the same.

This movie tops my list of most viewings. I've lost count of how many times I've seen this and I almost have the script memorized. And it's still hilarious every time.
