A-Team. Very epic. Though they messed up Mr. T's role with him swearing a lot. :/ But it was very epic!

Surrogates

Decent science fiction movie. I expected more from what was touted as a Bruce Willis action flick, but for what it was it was pretty good.

The Slammin' Salmon

Broken Lizard have hit another home run. This is one of the funniest comedies I have seen in quite a long while, up there with the likes of Super Troopers. Definitely worth a rental, and I'm considering a purchase. This one was a bit tamer than Beerfest and Super Troopers, but the language was very rough, perhaps a bit too rough. Apart from a decent (but not excessive) amount of sexual humor, most of the comedy came from old-fashioned silliness, slapstick, and wordplay.

The Collector

It's in very much the same vein as the Saw films, but it's almost better. It doesn't have the psychological element of those movies, but I thought the tension was more well paced and better done. In fact, it's a gripping film, and had me on the edge of my seat. Some of the gore is ridiculous almost to the point of camp, but it's also a thrilling, claustrophobic cat-and-mouse movie. And the way the killer's eyes glitter (like a spider's apparently) is incredibly creepy.

B

Couples Retreat

Decent. The first half was a lot of fun, but the second half (ironically the half that Vince Vaugn wrote, taking over for Jon Favreau) is a little messy. I also didn't care for the fairy tale, convenient Hollywood ending. And I really felt it was trying to cash in on the popularity of Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Strangely, I also just watched The Taking of Pelham 123.

My slightly more objective side would give it a C, my gun nerd side gives it an F, purely for the idiocy of the cop showing the guy how the safety works...backwards.

Pirate Radio

It was an entertaining movie, but sometimes it felt like a weaker cousin to The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, don't ask me why.

B

Law Abiding Citizen

Decent thriller up until the implausible and unsatisfying ending. I give props to the impressive direction, however. Gerard Butler shows once again that he has some great range as an actor.

C+

Ink

Stunning. Truly one of the greatest films I have ever seen. The script was minimalist and impressive, the story was odd yet still engaging, and the direction, cinematography, and editing were unlike anything I have ever seen. The ending was also deeply touching. Everyone needs to see this.

Invictus

Well, I must first clear some things up. I have almost always had an interest in South Africa. I am also a huge fan of Morgan Freeman. And I also really like Matt Damon. With that out of the way, I really enjoyed this movie. The acting was superb, the story was gripping, and by the end of the movie, I was very glad I'd seen it. As a side note, I have some friends who lived in South Africa, and they said the accents were pretty good for Americans. :P

All in all, a great movie.

I pretty much felt the same about Invictus, though it seems I'm the only one that couldn't really follow the progression of the plot. O_o

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

No comparison to the games. I kept wishing they'd brought Farah instead of the priestess. Though they share similar roles (trying to steal the dagger and winning the Prince's heart), Farah could generally take care of herself. The princess/priestess however never really shows that she can. The Prince actually gets a name (kind of odd since he's never give one in the games) but I suppose it's necessary since there's actually three princes and is not actually a true prince, being an adopted street rat (Aladdin anyone?). The storytelling concept from the first and last games is missing (not sure if it was there in the second) which is something I enjoyed- particularly in the first when he was the narrator.

Now, on the movie's own merits- it wasn't too bad. The logic is a bit questionable- the Prince is blamed for the murder of the king when he has no claim to the throne, and is clearly seen giving the gift to his father. Furthermore...
Spoiler:
he got the gift from his brother who also blames him instead of looking to who gave him the gift to give to the Prince for their father.
The action was pretty good. I'd heard there were a lot of jump-cuts but didn't notice it too much myself.

I'd give it a C+

She's Out of My League

Pretty funny, but mostly very average. I thought the stars had excellent chemistry.

B

Green Zone

Decent, but not amazing. Very predictable. I expected more from Greengrass/Damon.

Toy Story 3

Hmm. It was pretty good. But I still think the first is better. I also enjoyed The Incredibles more. BUT it was better than Wall-e and Up.

So, definitely worth seeing. I will admit, I almost cried. Mostly because Andy's plight hits home with me.
