I pretty much love every Pixar movie (save for Cars and only because I haven't fully seen that) and this one is no exception. Even though I've seen this multiple times, I saw new details that made me love it even more.

Mystery Science Theater 3000: Future War

The actual movie being MST3K'd is horrendous. Obviously. However, there are sequences in the movie that are so bad, even the quips made by the MST3K crew does little to ease the discomfort. Make no mistake though, I was laughing very often and I'd watch it again. Or perhaps rent the actual movie and have some friends over to mock it ourselves. However my eyes might need rest after so much forced perspective and cardboard boxes.

District 9 - Second viewing, still love it. I wasn't sure I was in the mood to watch it again, but I started it up anyway and quickly got sucked in, maybe even more so. For some reason the movie felt a lot shorter than it did when it was in the theater. A

Not even Bon Jovi killing vampires could save this.

I'm not sure how this averaged an 83 on Metacritic.

^ Apparently the people who didn't like it were expecting an actual horror movie, and not intentional B-grade camp. I kind of want to see it, but the occult-ish stuff puts me off..

Up - Number of times I've seen this movie: 2
Number of times it's made me tear up in the first five minutes: 2

That said, I think it's far from Pixar's best, but it still gets a B-

Overall, I liked this a lot. In particular, two key plot points struck me as terribly stupid. The fact that Ethan Hawke spent the last quarter of the movie dressed like Han Solo bugged me to no end. Don't get me wrong, it was a pretty enjoyable movie overall... but those little things make it come up way short of awesome.

I looove Jackie Chan, and I couldn't sit through more than half an hour of that movie. Yuck.

Also, you're right.

Charming, occasionally hilarious and frequently touching. Great movie, although the constantly shifting tone may be off-putting to some. Woody Harrelson is brilliant, as always.

Contrary to what many thought, I wasn't "taking one for the team" by going to see this. it was perfectly average and mindless summer movie entertainment in the vein of Pirates.\
