The Time Traveler's Wife

Well this was just... bizarre. I didn't know anything about it before watching it, so I didn't know what to expect. Overall, I found it original. I found it solid. I ended up liking it a good bit. Don't plan on watching it again, though.

Well... it was not as I expected, and this doesn't surprise me at all. First let's get the negatives out of the way. The plot (which is already lackluster)... had very, very little direction. At some points it seemed to come to a complete halt. A few of the characters were simply too annoying (Tweedledee and Tweedledum, for instance). Just got back from seeing this in 3D a little while ago.

Surprisingly, it was almost exactly like I expected. The problem with the plot is that the original story is supposed to be nonsensical, but Burton sweetened this re-imagining up with some half-hearted quest that felt pulled from a myriad of other films.

Otherwise, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The characters, as you said, are endearing, and it was a job well done by all the actors, although some of the choices seemed lunacy inspired (given the characters, that's not necessarily a bad thing). Depp's Scottish accent and futterwacking? Could have done without those, regardless of minimal amusement.

It's a lot to absorb, but I think I will give it the same score, maybe with a lower lean.

Excellent movie. It, without a doubt, deserves all the awards it's won.

I've been wanting to see this for a while now, and it was as good as I hoped it would be. It takes a really well made movie to make me feel sympathetic towards something as ugly as those aliens.

Wow... The movie was great. The acting, the plot, everything was great.

I can't say anything about this movie in fear of giving the story away. But you should all see it.

(500) Days of Summer - Words can not describe how much I both love this movie and simultaneously hate it, but you know me, I'm going to try anyway. The direction is quirky and works beautifully with the story, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is absolutely phenomenal (the first truly genuine performance that I've seen in quite a while) in the lead role, and Zooey Deschanel brings just the right amount of alluring aloofness to Summer.

Why didn't I like it? Well, you could call it a cautionary tale. A romance based on the world's perception of love and sexuality is destined to fail. Sex is portrayed something to be thrown around to 'get to know somebody,' yet it leaves the main character emotionally devastated, and rightly so, because Summer never wants anything more than a casual relationship. It hurts to watch sometimes, the wounds of people having to deal with this.

A+ on technical merit, D on everything else.

This Is It - surprisingly good, the concert looked like it would have been awesome...to bad it never came to be. MJ sure could sing and dance really well. Weird dude but very talented.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

I think that this may have been one of the better movies I've ever seen. It also had Stanley Kubrick's fingerprints all over it, making it more awesome. Why this didn't get any Academy awards escapes me.

The Hurt Locker - very good movie, makes you feel like you're in the army

Where the wild things are- I..... Didn't really get this movie. I also found it very dark for a kid's movie.

The Master of Disguise- I haven't seen this movie in years, and I was glad that I still thought it was pretty funny. Not the best movie ever, but good nonetheless

The Mummy 2- I never saw the first one, so I was a little lost. It was kind of corny, and some of the characters annoyed me. Overall I enjoyed it though.

Stealing Harvard- Not bad for a movie I had never heard of. I only watched it because it was free on demand, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not saying it was that good of a movie, but it wasn't bad.

I'll have a few more movies to watch before I get better, so let's hope they're better than most of these.
