Silent Hill 3 and 4 any good?

Also,

Are RE4 and 5 different from RE1, 2, and 3?

Is there actual scenery in RE5?

Too many RE5 questions, I know. :) But the only screens I've seen have been city shots.

Best was probably 2. Worst was 4 or Homecoming.

Um... I played a bit of 4... nothing of 3, though I had it for a while. I know that they're all basically crippled from a combat perspective and very violent/disturbing. Neither of those had the same kind of psychological horror thing going on that SH2 did, which means less fear... and more weirdness.

RE1, 2, 3 and 0 (plus Code: Veronica) were all very slow, methodical games that took their cues from the point-and-click adventure genre. Combat in the games was difficult because of the isometric camera perspective, ammo was limited and enemies tended towards slow-and-shambling. The games also had a very disorienting tank-like control scheme, which didn't help things at all. Puzzles routinely blocked the way, which extended game time, artificially. Most of them were very short.

RE4 changed things up. The camera perspective foreshadowed Gears of War's: behind the back and slightly over the shoulder, called "second-person." You could now aim your weapons and target enemies in specific areas to slow them down. Hit them in the leg and they grab the wound. Hit them in the head, and maybe the head explodes. Oh, and the enemies changed up, too. No longer were they the stumbling, stupid zombies of yore; now they ran and wielded weapons from pitchforks to crossbows and guns. And, oh yeah, there was a chainsaw guy in the very beginning of the game who freaking rocked. ;) The first four games (plus Code: Veronica) had really only been confined to one or two areas. RE4 was comparatively huge, with Leon's (the main character in the game, who had been one of the stars from RE2) quest spanning the Spanish countryside, through castles and dungeons and finally onto an island in order to find the truth and complete his mission (which was to save the President's daughter). Combine all that with massive boss characters, a compelling story (seriously... it was pretty freaking good) and quicktime events to ensure that the controller was never dropped, and RE4 really hit something special.

RE5, on the other hand, attempted to continue that "something special," and in large part, was very successful. The game still played the same, but moved more towards action. Enemies seem to swarm more here... but whenever I think that, I remember that RE4 had the same problem in places; the difference is pacing. RE4 wasn't afraid to have long levels and areas without enemies. RE5 seems to be stuck in this idea that there needs to be something violent happening every five minutes, which leaves very little room for tension to be built up.

So, in other words, RE4 was the revolution. It made everything different and basically redefined third person action games. It was long, it was pretty, it was violent and it was scary. RE5 was the evolution. It continued the ideas presented in the previous game, removed much of the tension (to my chagrin), eliminated a lot of the puzzles that players had come to expect, and moved more towards the "Gears of War generation" that has popped up in recent years. What I'm saying is that RE4 was the epic, RE5 was the Hollywood-blockbuster. One that answered a lot of questions.

And yeah, the newest two were different. ;)

Haha... I elaborated. ;) But it was fine. XD

Uh, yeah, there is. The scenes that you've seen (hahahahah... >.>) are probably only from the first couple of chapters.

Your not allowed to use cheesy puns, aye. That's my job.

I have a question: Did you you know that the chainsaw guy in the beginning is actually avoidable?

Yes, I did. But I also know that there's no fun in avoiding that guy. XD

I mean... he has a burlap sack over his head. Not only is that cool, it's totally cliche, which makes it even cooler. XD

You have to fight him later anyway. :/ And since there is no video preparing you, just the sound of a ripping chainsaw, I think it's scarier. O_O

Quit it! You're making me want to play RE4 again! >_<

Also, "You'll never buy live food again! Farm raised mealworms are cooked in the can to lock in the natural juices. Just pop the top and you have a fresh and flavorful diet your animals will readily consume."

Sound delicious?

No, apparently I don't.

I'm not a fan myself, but I'd rather them than Can o' cricket. The legs get everywhere. /disgusted

So why do you hate mealworms?

Or as a substitute, why do you hate garlic mashed potatoes?

Never eaten them... but because I had to use them to feed a pet when I was a kid. Guess I developed a phobia.

I love garlic mashed potatoes.

I own a dog and two cats. ... Though this is probably going to be the last dog I own for a long while.

If you stepped down from your position, and I became admin, would you be offended if I edited all your posts, both past, present, and future, to say, "I love George W. Bush." ?

I'd do it in a friendly way, of course.
