Nope.

RE5, while a great game and pretty freaking solid in its own right, doesn't seem to captivate me the way that RE4 did. I mean, I want to beat RE5... but RE4 had its hold on me and wouldn't let go. This time around, the horror elements are basically nonexistent, and the co-op game play takes away a lot of the tension. Instead of the constant balancing act of ammo and health... you now basically have an extra gun, which takes away a lot from the game. Plus, while the story is good, it's not as amazing as RE4's was, and the bosses certainly aren't as memorable. Most of the amazing moments that I see in RE5 are almost ripped right from RE4. There was one scene in RE4 that had a truck barreling at you... and you had to stop it. What did you do? Shot the driver. Simple enough. It was awesome, though, and really added to the game. RE5... has a scene with a truck barreling towards you. And what do you do? Not shoot the driver... shoot the explosive barrel next to the truck so that it stops it. Water bosses, El Gigante... it's like they couldn't actually improve upon its predecessor, so they simply grabbed what they liked and slightly modified it. Which is not to say the game isn't cool or good or fun... but I definitely hope the next game redefines the series like RE4 did. Because that's the one that will stay in my mind.

It took me five times before I shot the driver. -_- I tried shooting the tires out, the radiator. Then I nailed a headshot because he ticked me off.

Or maybe I screamed invective while unloading my gun toward the truck. >_> I leave it to you to decide.

I should start saving now for all the games I'd like to buy this year?

Yeah, definitely start saving.

And... Chozon... if it took you five times to shoot the driver, I can begin to understand why you're not a fan of RE4 on the Wii. On the Cube, it took me two tries. I didn't know what I was doing the first time... and the second time... BAM! Yeah... XD Anyway... I might suggest that you try it again on the Cube. With the traditional controls. Because it's awesome. XD

It wasn't a lack of skill, so much as a lack of brains. I hit the driver first shot, but fifth try at that scene. I honestly had no idea what to do, so I tried dodging, shooting the tires, ETC, until out of frustration I shot the driver and watched the truck explode with what I'm sure was a funny look on my face. I'm just not sure of that game. Part of me wants to buy it again, part of me doesn't. I could never admit to myself why I didn't like it. I'll probably make the purchase at some point in the future.

As an aside, they are remaking RE and RE0 for the Wii, with pointer controls. I'm wondering if it will be worth the extra cash to wait and purchase them at that point?

I'm not sure if it's full 3-D remakes, or simply adding pointer control.

I don't know how they'll do that. The games were basically prerendered with an isometric view. How will pointer control do anything but detract from the experience? See, this is my main problem with the Wii; stop remaking and porting games and get some new good stuff on the system. It isn't that hard.

Yeah, Ashley was annoying... but she also added to the game a bit.

My favorite boss was probably the lake creature. That thing was awesome.

I sold that one... because I almost threw the controller. First time that happened to me. I figured I didn't need the frustration. XD
