Also what is the secret to having an incredibly successful Ask... thread?
Prompt replies, I dunno. ;)

If political parties worked the way they said they would, then would any system matter but one of honor? If every party is based on doing what is best for the country, as they claim they are, then why does every party think that they, and they alone can fix the U.S? Is there no honor among thieves?

If you look a monkey in the eye, what will happen?
The thing about political systems is that they organize thought--that is, a way of thinking--into a concise collective of thinking. Political theory is just that--theory. There is no way that a political system will ever work the way that one would want it to. That's why it's theory. To a certain extent, it's possible to predict human behavior... after that, though, it becomes impossible, because while a man can be rational, humans en masse are irrational, and tend to use group think. Political theory groups its ideas into a setting that is ideal for those conditions. For example, communist theory. Karl Marx suggested that the proletariats (the poor) would overthrow the bourgeoisie, and through that, dispense of the capitalist system. When put in practice, this idea worked quite well, but different interpretations of that theory, as well as practical application (people tend to flock to a leader or a group of leaders, there can be no collective), plus a host of other factors, proved that communist theory is not something that can be implemented well, no matter how well the revolution might go. And even China has had to make do with "free trade zones" to survive.

As for what the individual parties believe, I'm not sure that the more moderates believe that they alone can fix the country. Let's face it, we may disagree in political ideology, but we're in this together. Most politicians realize that, I think, even if you don't believe that their intentions are the best.

As for honor among thieves... what do you think?

And if you look a monkey in the eye, you get to dance, so you must look at your pants.
Nah dude, all I've heard from political candidates is how they will fix things, or how they plan to change them. I think, maybe once, I've heard a president or someone say "We're in this together", but now the candidates are only fighting, and the rest of the country seems to believe one of them will save the U.S. Aside from your group thinking lecture, why is this so? why don't people use logic anymore? (Myself included, unfortunately.)

If the Monkey makes you dance, what does a fish do?

Why does gum always have lines on it?

Because the country relies on that myth. People don't use logic because people don't think for themselves. Ours is a culture raised on marketing tactics that tell us what we need and what we want. And largely, we believe those lies.

A fish, however, makes me eat it.

Grips for the teeth, I would think. To help with chewing.

I have not. Although, I've heard it's quite good.
...I refuse to, however, on the grounds that the commercials for that brand suck.
I sort of thought that the commercials were kind of cool >_> <_<

Before I answer that, I need to know: why do you ask?

 Because I asked another dumb question and I couldn't think of anything else to ask.

And I'm curious.

Pantera?

Also... is it true that anything said with the right inflection or written with a question mark becomes a question?

Ah.

Well... I come from an Episcopalian/Evangelical Presbyterian background. I was raised by parents who were pretty active in the church community, and brought me up as such. However, an event about four years ago, an event that lead to my parents' subsequent divorce, lead me to reevaluate my faith.

No need to fear: I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and for the sins of the world, and I accepted Him as my personal Savior many years ago. I have reaffirmed my faith and belief since then. That's the basics, right? What else do you need to know? Do I believe that evolution happened, or do I believe a Creationist ideology? Do I take a literal interpretation of Revelation? Do I believe in the Rapture?

I submit that this is unimportant, since the basics of my faith--the acceptance of Christ Jesus into my heart--is there, and that's exactly the same as all believers on this site.

Why do you ask "pantera"?

And... yes and no. An inflection and/or question mark in an inappropriate place just annoys me.

Do you like Pantera at all?

Oh. Not really. Dimebag Darrell was a good guitarist, though.
