What do you think about rimfires as short-medium range interdiction weapons?

Well... they're not the worst thing ever.
I personally wouldn't go less than a .22 mag, though. The .22LR is a great little cartridge, but I know from experience... it's not got a ton of power.
Even the .17HMR is... weak. Insanely accurate, and a blast to use... but weak nonetheless.

Well, see....
Certain Israeli...wet work units apparently use integrally suppressed Ruger 10/22's.
I'm thinking a suppressed .17 HMR through the eye will ruin just about anyone's day, aye?

haha, yes. Yes it will.
But thing is, if you miss and hit, say, their cheek/graze their head... it ain't gonna kill them. Hurt like crazy? Sure, but won't do any real damage.
It's just that if you're shooting at someone... well, I'm of the mentality that it's best to shoot to kill, and have power to do it regardless of where you hit. Not wound (unless you can really get away with it).
But if someone breaks into my home? I'm not gonna take out the .22 to challenge them. I'm gonna take out the shotgun/deer rifle.
Just my opinion, though.

Aye.
Kinda wimpy though man...
You need a rifle to take down an intruder?

haha, maybe not. Unless the guy is a master in some martial art/an insanely huge body builder... I could probably take him on in hand to hand combat.
See, it pays to go out logging in your spare time.
You develop... strength. And other skills. <_<
And if all else fails we've always got the knives and the chainsaw.

haha
I'm thinking bow.
I'd have to string it, aim in the dark, and I'd have one shot, so.... yeah.
Smoke grenades?

Yeah. But a bow (at least my compound) would pretty much take out any intruder no matter where you hit them.
It's... brutal. o.O
Smoke grenades are pretty cool, though I have no clue where one would acquire some.... legally. XD

Legal most everywhere, including Michigan.

Expensive though.
Ax or saw?

Ah, didn't now that.
And depend on the purpose. Nothing beats a chainsaw (obviously) for felling and bucking, but you gotta have that ax (preferably a maul) for log splitting. As far as handsaws go, bleh. Unless they're big two man saws, they pretty much... fail. Only time I like them is for work that needs a finer touch than a circular saw or chainsaw can provide.

Why would you use a gun, or your fist when taking a sword to someone is so much more fun? O_o
Not to mention it's...more epic.
