I'm using Ubuntu. Getting it into PDF form is easy enough, since Libre exports it without issue. It needed to be in PDX/X-1a:2001 format, which I couldn't manage. I'm sure there's a way, but I couldn't find it, and after four hours, I gave in and went with CreateSpace. :P
Ugh, I don't blame you one bit. You'd think that, if they want your business, they'd make it a bit easier to get your book uploaded....

It's more that I don't trust my grammatical skills. If I were going to devote a lot of time to a single thing in order to improve my writing, it would be punctuation and grammar.
You know, the thought occurs to me that that could be one advantage to writing from a first-person perspective Most people don't speak in perfectly grammatically correct sentences. However, the writing still has to be legible....

More, please! I love enchiladas! Growing up, they used to be a holiday tradition to have them on Christmas Eve.

Ironically, I've never been comfortable with first person. To many I's. :P

Replaying classic games (classic as in you loved them when they were first made, as opposed to 'this game is old' classic) that have been remade?

You mean like how Avernum: Escape From the Pit is a remake of Avernum 1, which is a remake of Exile: Escape From the Pit?

If done well, it can be a worthwhile game to play. If done poorly, might as well play the original.

I was very tempted to get Crystal Souls the other day, since it dropped to 50% off. I didn't, but that's mostly because I bought the Ratchet and Clank collection, which is a pseudo remake.

Despicable Me?

How does it measure up to the original?

An entertaining franchise. I liked the first movie, and my kids really liked "Minions."

Insanely busy. I have to finish my novel, for starters. I'm also waiting to hear back on a different novel I've submitted, and if that one gets rejected, I have a few more publishing companies to try.

But that's not all! My wife's sister has purchased a place in our dinky little town. Once a dive bar, we've been working on cleaning it up and getting it ready to reopen as a cafe / pub (in fact, that's probably where I'm going to be most of this weekend - she's rented a huge Dumpster for a few days, so we need to fill it up!) After things are up and running, I may end up working for (with?) her, taking care of anything computer-related, including social media and bookkeeping. It'll be busy work, but it also will be nice to do something closer to home. Plus it might give me more time for writing (instead of driving) so that's good!

First off I always glance about forums before I start getting, well, too involved. Some threads catch my eye (mentality, persona, spirit, identity, whatever) and others are just read and placed into history.
So now that I've done so a bit, I pose this question:
What topics catch YOUR eye via, well, mentality, persona...
...
???
8)

(Oh and yes, this question DOES look familiar to some, huh? Call it member curiosity, if you please?)

I have my go-to question as well. In fact, I believe I asked it to you.

Since role-playing games tend to be my favorite genre, I tend to watch for posts about those. But I tend to have extremely eclectic tastes - in games, music and books.

And sometimes I slip into "cloud cuckoolander mode" and get completely random. Sometimes in my answers, too.

I have the personality of an eccentric millionaire! Without... the millionaire part....

It is the original. It's more of an updated HD port than a remake. Which I sort of knew going in...but I didn't really expect a 1:1 port. I was hoping for some new bonus features or something. Maybe an unlockable game...this is good, but only because all three games are the exact same as they were on the PS2. :P

Fortunately something I don't suffer from. However, there are a few things that can set me off almost instantly. Anti-semitism is one of those.

Well, one of my favorite novels is 1984 by George Orwell. But if you're in the mood for lighter fare, I recommend the short stories of outdoor humorist Pat McManus. He's taken to writing mystery novels which, to be honest, aren't nearly as good....
Emwok wrote:Crunch time?
It's best to be prepared before this hits. Or even better, to be finished before this hits.

Unless you're talking about cookies. If that's the case, then any time is a good time to crunch into those. Om nom nom....
