I'll keep you updated. I'm only really worried about him being cold when it comes to him feeding. Otherwise, he seems to enjoy it. It may be a one way ticket to RI ville, but I dunno. We'll see. His cage has been staying in the 80's on the hot end.

Yay for pants?

Ah, Okay. That's what my corn's cage is. About 81-ish on the hot end. All I've got at the moment is a moonlight bulb heating it, as I switched cages a while back and this one doesn't have a heat mat. He's doing fine. Feeding great and everything (and he's in shedding mode and... is still insanely hungry XD). But he's 3 years old and compared to your young guy, and a bit more... "stable", if that makes sense. But he does like it cooler during the winter, as the temps are that low on the hot end and he STILL is curled up around the cool water dish. XD

Pants are pretty much a necessity. Pretty much. <_<

Hmm...he's curled up on top of his log on the hot end. Something he's never done before. But it's cool. He's still got a bit of swelling (less than in that picture) but other wise is alert and normal.

Think I should try to feed him tonight or wait another day? We're on day 11 without food. And I've only got one mouse left with no chance to get more until Monday.

Hmm.

I'd try feeding him sometime tomorrow. Just to wait a little bit longer to make sure he's hungry.

Also, how cool is cool? And... do you still have the heat mat hooked up to the thermostat?

I meant curling up on his log was a "cool" trick. XD

Heat mat is on the thermo, moonlight bulb is on. I picked him up earlier and he seemed fine. Pretty much like he was the second or third time I held him. Meaning he was used to me and not frightened like the first time.

If I had to guess, I'd say the air temp was around 74, ground temp in the high 80's.

Dis OK? He regurged his food when I fed it to him below 81 degrees.

I think that sounds fine. ^_^

Only thing you might have to do is take the mat off the thermo, but if the ground temp is really high 80s (above 86 or so) then you're doing fine.

Is he sleeping on the log, or did he just curl up when going about his stuff?

Sleeping. Kinda sleeping. I should say he was sleeping, but when I took a picture and forgot to turn the flash off, he stopped sleeping and started glaring. :D Now he's got his bum on the log and the rest of him curled up beside it.

I'm wondering if he's just not feeling protected enough. Could that be part of it?

I suppose it's possible. Though I dunno, as my corns have never really had that problem. XD

You could try cutting up a bit of newspaper and making a pile, and putting his little log on it. He'll then more than likely make a nest in it. ^_^

Yeah, once you get it down you'll find snakes are a joy to keep. ^_^

And... dunno. Depends on the situation. Force feeding is... really, really bad. Stresses out the snake like crazy and has been known to kill some of them. It's usually used as a last resort. But if he STILL doesn't eat the next time you try, lemme know; there are other tricks to get snakes feeding.

I believe you could ask the vet to force feed if you're really concerned about it, but... I don't recommend it.

I'm tempted to try putting a pin through the mouses skull. That's supposed to help. I haven't tried to feed him yet, though. I'm praying he eats. O_O

Edit of five hours later:

Nope. Didn't eat. Barely was interested in it. He stared at it as I shook is in front of his head. Especially after I did the skull pop thing (which was, admittedly, nasty). I'm starting to get worried...day twelve without eating. It could have been this batch of mice, I guess. He ate one of them I think. But no others. I have to get him more tomorrow.

Suggestions?
