So you could get a print copy of your first draft and not have to worry about it being distributed in a mass market after that. You're expected to make changes to the text, the cover, etc., based on what you find in the proof. Just something to think about.
Cool. ^_^ That's exactly what I want, actually. Just a physical copy of a book I wrote. Easier to share around for critique, too. I just tend to not trust corporations, and I was uncertain whether this would turn out to be one of those "you just gave us the rights to the book and didn't know it" deals. O_o Thanks for all the information too! I'm a long way from even considering publishing, but I do hope I'll hit that point next year after a bunch of rewrites.

If I do get a proof copy it'll likely still be a first draft, albeit proof read and and such. For fun. :D

Have you ever used CreateSpace or Lulu?

So have you guys been getting a lot rain?

Portland has gotten so much rain that we've got flooding all over the place. Parts of public transportation were inaccessible yesterday, and there's another major storm system coming through tomorrow...I worked from home today, might do the same tomorrow.

I did use CreateSpace to get a proof copy of the first NaNo I finished, "Reborn." However, I want to try and go the professionally-published route, so I didn't go beyond that step (although I've seriously considered it). I've heard that if you start as a self-published author, it's harder to get a publisher interested in your works. However, it did work for writers like Tom Clancy and Larry Corriera.....

Working from home sounds nice. :) Yes, we've been getting tons of rain where I live, too. We had one customer come in to our office the other night and she compared the rain to monsoon season from her home state of Arizona.

If it's a belt that fits around the wrist, I call it a watch. ;)
I'd call it a... waist of time.

Like what? A bunch of 1s and 2s glued together? Do you have an example you can show me?

That thing seems almost obscene.... Call me underwhelmed.

It's the wave of the future!

One team of engineers from Washington State University competed in a contest to design a base on a future mission to Mars. Their plans involved sending some solar powered robots and a 3D printer to the planet first. The robots would then use the 3D printer to fabricate the materials needed to build a shelter for the human inhabitants when they arrived. Sadly, the WSU team didn't win the contest, but I found the idea absolutely fascinating!

Some are definitely better than others.....

I'm not a big fan of Sinatra, primarily because I'm not a huge fan of his typical genre of music. His ties with organized crime don't help much, either.

You can't just go around linking people to Bieber videos man. -_- That's cruel and unusual. Pentatonix video was good though. Perhaps the first time I've ever listened to them.

Lo, it hath been decreed - since the world hath produced one such as Bieber, and so hath the world produced ones that shall follow him, then lo, the world must suffer for its crimes....

Pentatonix is a fantastic a cappella group. Definitely check out more of their stuff when you have the chance. Some of their covers I prefer over the originals (such as "Royals.")
Chozon1 wrote:It gives the tears?
I suppose it could... not so much me, though. I'm not sure why. I do like TSO, vut I don't think I've been moved to tears by any of their songs.

One that always gets me, though, is Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven." If that song doesn't move you - especially if you know the reason why he wrote it - then you may have no soul.

Now there's a hot topic. It's considered a classic now, but I hear the critics really burned it when it first came out. In fact, in some on-line literary communities, discussing its merits can still start a flame war.

... OK, I think I'm done. I'm sorry to put you through such Hell....

Yeah, but...but...but...I don't even really do pop music at all, and rarely even secular, so I'm being punished for other peoples evils. And I don't even like those other people. *_*

I listened to the song and looked it up, and it's sad...doesn't bring me to tears, though. And I have a soul; I cried at Up. I may have pretended to have accidentally poked myself in the eye with the remote, but those were tears.

When you need epoxy, there will surely be none to be found?
