Something you'd be interested in though?

Maybe.

Games like that--all old school challenge, with their side scrolling, beat 'em up glory--aren't really my style. I wouldn't game at all if I didn't feel that games have this potential for storytelling; that kind of game doesn't really have that much of a story, so I don't really feel compelled to play it.

Nope. I didn't have the patience to go through that game again on Insane.

It's hard. It's not... crazy difficult. But it's harder than I was willing to put myself through at the time. ;)

Do you think that games are closer to books, or movies?

Closer to movies, definitely.

Games cannot begin to equal the characterizations and descriptions that a book can easily show.

Do you think that, with the advent of more realistic looking games, that they will begin to show more depth of character and atmosphere than a movie?

I think that graphics are part of the equation for character depth... and possibly for depth of character, if you're of the mindset that the way a character moves can help define who they are.

But it's gotta be the writing. Games have to move past the generic Master Chiefs and Marcus Fenixs--i.e., space marines--because honestly, that sort of thing is holding the industry back.

I'm not sure about that. Halo and GoW made mucho dinero. Holding them back in the way of depth maybe, but not monetarily.

That's what I meant. Depth.

What do you think the ratio of "I just want blood and guts" to "I want a deep storyline that involves me" actually is?
