Mind if I ask why? What makes Terraria a better game than Minecraft?
Going to have to think about that. I currently don't have the time to write such a post, but I will answer that before the weekend is over (will be out for most of tomorrow, so probably Sunday).

Basilisks?

Sstavix wrote:So what makes Destiny different from the glut of cookie-cutter FPS games out there? What features or qualities makes it stand out from all the rest? (I'm not trying to knock it - as someone who couldn't tell you the difference between Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, or Halo, I'm genuinely curious.)
Destiny is much more world and atmosphere focused, and more of an RPG than a straight up FPS run-and-gun experience. It tells a nice story, but it's more about putting the player into the world and letting them become a Guardian rather than "Here's the story; beat it? You're done". It's also not an A-B game. It plays much more like Diablo, or even a lesser Borderlands. The weapons and armor work like an RPG, that you can buy them or find them, and your character levels up on a skill tree, with three modes for each class. So...RPG with FPS combat? It's still very much an FPS, but it's also very much more.

I've got no complaints, really. Well. I don't like the expansion essentially nullifying those of us who didn't buy it. But I'm not annoyed enough to swear off the game. :P
Interesting. Thanks for letting me know!

It has been a long, long time since I've done anything like that. If I recall correctly, it's much easier if you punch the holes in advance.

Chicken-lizards that can turn you to stone? You know, I've always wondered how one of those would taste....

Easier, but not easy.

There's something to be said about sitting down and crying for twenty minutes, then taking a nap?

... is this related to sewing leather? Or is there something going on that you'd like to talk about? Need any help or comforting?

I like Terraria more than Minecraft mostly because it's more like an RPG than a sandbox. It does have some sandbox elements, but they are pretty minimal compared to Minecraft. I also like the items. They make combat really interesting (especially the Sharknado wand) and they can be pretty funny.

No. I think I just need a nap. And maybe a 20 minute crying session. C'est la vie. Thanks though. :D

That looks interesting! Almost like an open-sandbox spin on Myst. At least from the trailer. I'll have to look at it a bit more.

...

Hmm. Windows only. I'll pass. :P

Depends on what you're trying to do. Are you preparing for NaNo? An outline can be good, but personally I find a good character synopsis to be more effective. Which reminds me, I need to get that done pretty soon....

I'm toying with the idea of trying NaNoWriMo, but I haven't decided yet. I wrote an outline up for a story yesterday, and the first few pages, since I didn't want to forget what I'd come up with. Character synopsis sounds like it'd be handy too, though.

It's a good tactic to use. Especially when you need to use a character again and don't want to dig through several chapters to find that one-sentence obscure reference to remember the character's name.

Ah! You must mean "Halloween!" Sorry - my eldest daughter in entering her "tweenage" years, so I got confused.... (Actually, I think she's been there for a while....)

Halloween actually is my least favorite holiday. It encourages children to dress up as evil creatures, wander around strangers' neighborhoods at night, and beg for candy. Frankly, I can see why some Christian families try to avoid it altogether. At times, it does seem like - at least in this country - a glorification of evil.

That being said, we still do take our kids trick-or-treating. But we tend to have some pretty strict rules about it (e.g. no scary costumes, you always go with a parent nearby, and I get all the peanut candies. )

I sort of feel the same way. I just sort of get this weird feeling on Halloween and I really don't like it. However, I do like that it gives us an excuse to get extra candy. :D

MIND is interesting. The puzzles are pretty hard and the story is sad and strange, but the scenery is amazing. I didn't even think a game could look that good. And even better, my computer can run it!

This song?

I can understand that. But I do love the 'Ween times. We didn't celebrate it for the longest time because of those reasons. Now we do, to an extent. But the fun, "spooky" parts of Halloween, as opposed to the dark, horror elements. The candy, the costumes, the fun snacks. I hate the dark, violent imagery Halloween brings out though. I always dress up as a hero, but there's always the guy that shows up at the party in a black robe with a bloody knife. -_- I kick them in the spleen.

It's OK, as far as video game music goes. But then again, there are very few video game soundtracks that I listen to outside the context of the game itself. The music often provides a great ambiance for the game, but not so much real life. ;)

But there are some exceptions. Such as....

It's actually not a game soundtrack, but he did put it in his game a while after he wrote it.

Scott Joplin?

Ah, OK. Still, it's all right. Have you played Savant? I have it in my Humble Bundle library, but I've never played it..

I had to look him up. Obviously I'm not very good with musical history....

I suppose he's OK. I know The Entertainer. I'm not normally a big fan of jazz or ragtime, though.
