Hmm...yes. I need to find something to use as spacers. I'm thinking about Lego's. XD

Also, assuming he is shedding, do I need to be spraying him now?

More than this, what's your new RTB like?

Have to wait 'till I can hold him (after the three or four days is up), and then I gotta get to Ferris. Hopefully this will be Saturday. We shall see. XD

Lego's would work great. XD

Aaaaaand, if he is in shedding... just mist his cage once a day. For corns... well, they've been the best shedders I've ever had. It's not as important that you get the snake wet (though don't worry if you do), as I've completely forgotten to spray my corn's cage in the past... and he's still shed fine. I'd wait a little bit until you see some more signs because... corn's are no bp's or GTP's... super high moisture when they don't need it can be bad. XD

So I'd wait a little while, unless his eyes are starting to cloud over now or something. ^_o

Aaaaaand as to mah new boa... well, she's pretty nervous. Snaps when I reach in to move something or when I took her out of the box she came in. But then again, she was born in May of this year. So she's still extremely young and scared. XD

She's beautiful, though. Sooooo silky smooth. I'd forgotten how silky a baby boa was, considering I haven't had one in a few years. XD

Um... I guess. Snakes are usually smooth. XD

Is it a sticky feeling? Almost stretchy I guess would be a good word.

That could be a sign of shedding. Also make sure to check his belly for either a milky/glazed look or an unusually pink look. More signs. ^_^

Yeah, sticky was what I was going for in that second word... XD I'd just woke up, and I feel bad today. :D

Lego's as spacers are going to work great. ^_^ Will Lego's ever let me down?

Ah, yeah. Sounds like he's preparing for a shed. I'd let him be for a while, because if he is shedding... well... as you know, a stressful time. XD

They will not. Lego's are the bomb.

That's good to know...I'm kinda weirded out by the fact he still took food, but happy it sounds like he is shedding. How long does it last?

Depends on the breed of snake, but a corn will typically be through with their shedding process within 10 days. Some much quicker (especially for young ones), some a bit longer.

If his eyes don't cloud over, though... dunno what's up. Every snake I've ever had has gone "blue" during the shedding phase.

How's he doing now?

His colors are definitely duller now. Eyes still aren't blue, though. Also, I had to bother him earlier (I'm still messing with the heater, and had to reach down where he was laying. One lego layer wasn't enough, so I'm at two now) and he feels tacky. Like paint that isn't quite dry.

Did you know it's only 16445 minutes until Christmas?

Yeah, that's kinda how they feel when getting ready for a shed. I'd maybe give the cage a mist now, but don't drench it. Just a light misting... like a one second rain fall.

And.

I know that now. XD

I... have not. But dude, any job having to do with herps would be epic win for me.

Me too... there's a local serpentarium that I'd love to work for... but unfortunately, they don't hire anyone under 18. :(

Would you ever own a poisonous snake?

That fails, man. :(

And.

Oh.

Yes.

I plan on it.

I can't because of where I live (with mah parents, with five siblings)... but I'd love to get a diamondback rattler:

and a mamba:

I found out I can get both of these off of kingsnake.com, too. <_<

Why get a snake you can't touch?
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do - Robert A Heinlein

You talking about the rattler and mamba, or new RTB (who bites)?

If the RTB... I can touch her fine. She's a great 'lil girl once you get her out of her cage. Calms down very fast, and actually hates being put away.

It's just when you move outside the cage she is all hiss and snap... and same when you reach in. XD

I've been bitten three times so far (haven't really been holding her, as I'm letting her settle in. but... I've had to do some rearranging in her cage/water changing/etc.)... and really, I don't even feel it. She's so small (about 18 inches) that it's like... yeah. Not like getting tagged by a adult RTB. XD

Do love her though. <3

As for holding a rattler and mamba, it's very possible. I'd need to get a legitimate snake hook, but really... even those snakes can tame down if held enough. At least the rattler, maybe not the mamba. <_<
