Ah, Okay. Well, could be he's been handled too much. My king gets snappy when he's been out for too long... could be your guy gets an upset stomach.

I'd just give him some rest and then take it from there.

I actually haven't messed with him for the past three days. I left him alone after the first regurgitation.

I did pick him up last night to see if his colors had changed. That's when I saw that they looked darker.

Is there another way to tell is he's shedding?

Well, really you just learn to tell by looking at them. The colors won't be as vibrant as when you first got him, his belly will get a look like those awesome glazed doughnuts, and eventually (after a day or two of starting his shed) his eyes will turn blue/milky.

My boa won't even look at a rat when it's in shedding mode. My corn will though... but he's also the snake that will eat your finger if it smells like a pinkie. I don't mean snap at you, no. He doesn't do that. He comes up kinda slowly, opens his mouth and starts gnawing on mah finger. Doesn't hurt, it's just lulzy. XD

King... he's a pig normally, but won't touch food when in his shedding phase.

A lot of snakes are like that. Nothing to worry about if they turn down a meal when in that phase.

I'm not sure why he'd have puked it up, they usually either eat or don't eat during that time. Buuuut everyone is different, I guess. XD

Hmm...It would explain why he hasn't been as active recently.

Hmm...I'm with you. I have a nice neckbeard going...and some wisps on my chin that I'm calling a soul patch. >_>

Also, I asked my Mom to come check, and she says Jayne definitely looks darker. To add to that, I found a spot where he pooed. So...I'm hoping he is shedding. Poor guy..I wouldn't be happy to have my skin sloughed off every once in awhile, I tell you. O_O

I had to get my mommy to check on my snake. XD

I'm also fooling with the heater now. The temp is above 100 by about two degrees, but it's over wood. I'm raising the cage a little to let more air reach it, and unsticking it from the glass. I can keep my hand on it, but it isn't comfortable. I've got it back on the thermostat at the moment.

Think raising the aquarium about an inch to half an inch over it would work?

I wouldn't like mah skin falling off once in a while either. That would be annoying. XD

Hmm... yeah, I think that would work better. Maybe put the mat under the cage (not directly on it; I'd take the tape off for now) and raise the cage up by about a quarter to half an inch for starters. That way the heat can vent a bit and not get as hot. I've never tried putting one under a cage without it being stuck to it (I've only used those zoo med ones, and they go on the cage permanently; which kinda sucks, because now the king's got one on his cage I can't use without a rheo because it's too hot XD), but I think it would work. If anything you'll have to go a bit lower on the cage spacers (an either an inch or so) to get the glass to warm up. Aim for a steady 90-95 degrees if you can.

Heat mats are such a pain at times to get right, I know. XD

My boa's 30L had one on it which I could use 24/7, but it's a 20 gal size on a 30 long. And it was still too hot, but hey. The then 5-6 foot boa didn't care, since they need a good amount of heat. XD Corn has a 5 gal mat (probably the same as you have in size, just zoo med) on his 20L which heats up to about 90 when on 24/7. It's an old mat taped onto his cage, so I believe that's why it's lower than others (it's still a zoo med).


Sooo yeah. I get it's a bit tough to get them mats right. >_<

Also, if the mat won't go down in temp enough... don't fret. Just use the thermo if you can't get it right. I would rather go with an on/off source than one that's way too hot (though from what it sounds like... these cobra mats don't hit the ultra high temps that those zoo med ones do. That's good XD).
