Bummer.
Reading LOTR amazes me, because the characters are actually believable. And Middle Earth is described in terms so vivid it isn't hard at all to imagine them.

He was amazing. Also, it took him 18 years to write LOTR. So, he had plenty of time to think up ideas.gray_terran wrote:Now what I want to know is how anyone could come up with soooooo much original material for a series. Tolkien is a genius. I mean the only fantasy series that even comes close to the scale of LOTR is The Wheel of Time...and the author took too long and died before it was finished.

First,
And, he did die before he finished. The Sil's fragmented, the Second Age minimal, nothing was near what he wanted.
Silmarillion, actually, and more specifically the Lay of Leithian.Chozon1 wrote:I love LOTR. <3
He was trying to create a myth on the scale of those of Rome and Greece, but for England. Ultimately he failed in that manner, but redefined the fantasy genre completely.gray_terran wrote:Now what I want to know is how anyone could come up with soooooo much original material for a series. No... but I'm pretty sure there won't be any limits, either. So I could be if I wanted to!Chozon1 wrote:I'm pretty sure going to heaven doesn't make you some freakish combo of superman and Spiderman.

No limits? If that were true Satan would have taken over heaven...GarthVader wrote:No... but I'm pretty sure there won't be any limits, either. So I could be if I wanted to!Chozon1 wrote:I'm pretty sure going to heaven doesn't make you some freakish combo of superman and Spiderman.![]()
