Hey CS, long time indeed.

Same as always. ups and downs. I'm a grandfather now so... yeah that happened.

How have you been?

Oh man. Finished grad school, got my first job, went to Scotland - Yellowstone - Ireland over three years, left my first job during COVID to start my own clinic, had a kid (turning 2 soon, and while I’m more tired than ever I’m having a blast with this mini-me), and now I’m trying to decide if I should throw in the towel and go back to working for someone else for work/life balance.

Grand-parenting from what I’m told is one of life’s greatest joys so I wish you the best in that regard!

Wow lots of change for you. Gratz!

Having a similar dilemma. My son went freelance and is starting his own company. He's trying to get me to do the same... I just might.

Man, I threw in the towel. However the opportunity that I had felt God dropped into my lap and yet didn't work out... wound up working out for the best. I got every job interview I applied for and settled into a Mon-Thurs 8-4 job and I can be with my son so much more. I continue to figure out my faith due to (gestures vaguely at "everything") however it seems some things worked out for a reason.

This is all to, uh, mask that I was not a good (or, profitable, anyway) business owner and got out while the gettin' was good >_> now I can focus on things like cooking and photography and wrestling my golden doodle. I feel like the textbook "failing upward" story and life has been good. Challenging (but not arduous), but good. Well, maybe arduous. My nearly-3 year old is the absolute light of my life, way too similar to me for his own good, will definitely outsmart me soon, and has my family's stubbornness. Lord I love him though. You're a father; was there a point where you chuckled and realized you were raising your own little best buddy?

What did you end up doing for your job? Wishing the best for you and your family
