About to fly from Miami to Cap Haitien!

Luckily for us, the flight to Cap Haitien was delayed. If it had been on time we would have missed it!

Just got some Wifi, so I thought I would post here first :)

We have been here almost a week, and I have had a great time getting to know other missionaries.

Because our house has been used only for short-term missionaries, it has fallen into semi-disrepair. Most of the time has been spent getting our stuff put away. We had about 15 suitcases, and only had to pay a $20 customs fee! This was very fortunate, because we had over 500 DVDs in our suitcases!

Anyway, back to the house. After we cleaned to cabinets to put our items away, Mom and Dad focused their efforts on cleaning and renovating the kitchen. Even though we have 2 refrigerators, neither of them work :( We have a brand-new refrigerator coming on our container, so we have to wait a while for it and our furniture. The oven was a home for some rats, and we had to clean out the rat nesting from inside :o

We have had high temperatures, even by Haitian standards. No cooling rain has come either.

So, I have a few prayer requests.
#1. For rain and cooler temperatures.
#2. For the kitchen to be finished soon.
#3. For the items in the container not to be damaged.

Thank you for your prayer.

PS. I have been having a great time with the stray chickens around the compound. They eat almost everything, but prefer fruit :D

Good News!

1. We got plenty or rain!
2. Temperatures have cooled down!
3. We caught a rat!
4. The container has arrived in the port!
5. The bees have left the house!

Apparently the rats here like Irish Spring Soap. That is what Dad used as bait in the trap.

When it is windy, it rains tiny mangoes when you are standing under the mango tree.

Prayer Requests.
1. That the rest of the bugs leave the house.
2. That the kitchen is finished soon.
3. That our new washer comes soon.
4. That the container arrives soon and is not damaged.

Thank you for your prayer!

Hey! Will be praying! I've been down there in Cap Haitien for a couple days for a small missions trip! it was definitely different from where we live! Our buddy who is a Hatian took us up to a mountain and had 1-3 hours of prayer time up there... Crazy how much they are thankful for! Even the kids we saw at the orphanage had NOTHING but they were SO joyful singing God's praise! Its VERY cool to see how God works in their heart, EVEN when they have nothing!! :)  Also, when we walked from orphanage to compound, kids RAN up to us, holding our hands! And smiling at us EVEN though they have NEVER seen us before! :)

Any games you guys play?

God Bless,
Woiv

We play soccer a lot, also some Wii games.

Sadly, the Hatian Customs Office had a computer crash, so the container arrival was postponed to tomorrow. Tomorrow is still better than sometime next month!

The container arrived yesterday evening! We are going to unload it today!

The bees are back in our house, but there are not many getting in. We need to find the hole, because a hole big enough for bees is big enough for mosquitoes.

Praises:
#1 The container is here!
#2 The Wifi is much better than we expected!

Prayer Requests:
#1 That the items in the container are not broken, and that we can find space for the items.
#2 That the bees leave the house, and that we find where they are getting in.
