I've been letting sin into my life. I don't want to divulge much more than that it's mostly a problem with lust.

I'll be Praying for you.

Just remember: this is a common struggle for every man and woman on this earth. Seek guidance from someone you trust (make sure it's someone from the same sex, and is straight, for obvious reasons). Pray a lot, especially every time it strikes, so that the Holy Spirit may fill your heart. Take deep breaths. Be alert. Read scripture daily. Deny yourself from things that may trigger this sin; like a certain website, book, video game or movie.

For more information, I suggest reading "Sex is not the problem (lust is)" by Joshua Harris. It's an excellent book that teaches you how to avoid committing the sin of lust.

Be part of the answer, not part of the problem.

I struggled with this too for a long long time. He did free me from it. Not that temptation won't come on me, because I did experience a small bit today. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7 The key in that verse is to submit, too many people leave that first part out of that scripture.

The best advice I can give you is to realize what you are doing... You are grieving the Holy Spirit inside of you. You might feel emotional pain after you sin and you may feel worthless (thats how I felt). I personally believe this is Him inside of us hurting. Allowing sin in binds us and blinds us. My sin in this area was mainly a root of insecurity. He can fill voids in our life. He wants to love you and bless you.

Should we remain in sin that grace may abound?

His grace is more than a lot of people can imagine. So much that when we really allow him to put it in our hearts, we come to the point were sin is just not worth it anymore. And even if we do sin, we can come before Him (usually ashamed), but He is there to comfort us and take that shame away by washing our conscious with the blood (grace) of Jesus.

A clean conscious (1 Peter 3:16), pure heart (psalm 51:10), and a tame tongue (James 3:8). These are three critical keys that God has taught and given me, because I surrended in these three areas to Him. The tongue cannot by tamed by us though, it can only be tamed by Him. I recommend you study on those three things. Seek and ye shall find, ask and it shall be given. They have greatly, greatly helped me.

Take time out, pray, read the word. Understand Jesus has already died for sin you commit and forgiven you. I'll definitely be praying for you. I recommend GatewayPeople.com as well. Robert Morris has been doing some great sermons on the use of our words and about the tongue lately. They are non-denominational.

I want to let you know too that I'm an average joe (nothing special) and I'm not a hyper christian or anything like that. God has just been really showing me how much He loves me and everybody else. God loves you and wants to build a strong loving relationship with you. He cares for you more than anything else on this earth.

I love you guy, I'll be praying.

I agree here about the submission, with any addiction. My pastor phrased it this way:

Instead of focusing so much on fighting back at the sin (because that tends to make you try to do it all by yourself), focus on the submission to God. Tell Him that you know that the issue in your life is wrong, and you submit to His healing. Then... allow Him to do what He promised to do

Anyway, I think all of us guys have struggled with lust in some form or another at some point in our lives, whether it's just our thoughts or full-out lustful actions. I'll be praying for you, man. We're all in this together.

I do want to emphasize what ChickenSoup just said.
We've been freed from sin. This means more than just forgiveness; this means we don't have to focus on not sinning. Not saying to go ahead do whatever, but that you can focus on God rather than the Law. Just do your best and live with no regrets.

I have struggled with this too. It's an addiction. Take it one day at a time. Guard your heart. And when you get tempted, don't feel bad, even Jesus was tempted. IMO that moment of temptation, when you still feel in control and haven't given yourself over to autopilot, you've gotta put away the temptation immediately and go do something crazy that will FULLY alter your brain chemistry -- for me, it's going outside and jogging. Then, take it day by day and eventually your craving will go away. This will be hard if you've developed a strong craving. But God will give you the strength.

Hey buddy,

Just know that I love you man. God is with you and that His heart is for you. I agree with what has been said. Don't focus on kicking the sin, focus on being with the Lord. This is a struggle that may never leave you but the victory is not in doing it or not doing it but keeping your eye on the Lord and Him empowering you to live a life that's different. You're not the only one who struggles with this. I have been addicted to pornography since I was 12, I'm 28 now. Right now, the Lord is sustaining me and keeping me from those evil desires. Remember what it says in Romans 7:14-25

14 For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. 16 But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. 17 So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. 20 But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.

21 I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. 22 For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, 23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

Jekyll and Hyde. We will always have a second nature that will say "hey, do it because you feel good." The fact that you are struggling speaks volumes. It says that the Law of the Spirit of Life is conquering the law of sin and death. Otherwise, you would do such things and think nothing of it. I've heard the analogy, people who are struggling to keep their head above water are still alive because if they stop struggling they will drown. The Lord is at work in you. Be encouraged. You are on a path leading to righteousness because the Lord is at work in to you bring righteous conviction and hatred of sin.

You are not alone. Don't let yourself be alone. Find yourself at church and around godly people. If you have any pornography in your house, get rid of it. If you find that being on the computer at late nights is the problem, then find someone who will call you at 1 am to check up on you. I'll do it if you like. You have a family of believers who love and appreciate you.

Lord, in the name of Jesus I ask that this season will be swift. I pray that You get close to him and that because he is close to You, darkness will be no where near him. Protect and cover him. I pray that if any opportunity opens up for evil to have a hold, you intervene and stop it dead in its tracks.

The Lord is with you, you are not alone!
Jeremiah 20:9-But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.

i hope you overcome this lust addictoin.

you have to leave it to Jesus, trust in him and faith, submit your faith, trust and burden to him.

i've been asking him to life my porn addiction, i wouldn't feel anything but i had to keep fighting it. Sometime I will end up in temptation again.

But Jesus was waiting for the right moment, and he took away my addiction like month.

I pray Jesus hears your cry and cures you:)

Badgr, it's all about decision.
God can free us from all addiction and all kind of sin in a matter of a second.
He is just waiting on us to decide , make up our minds, to throw away any kind of junk.
He won't force us to let it go. We have to choose to.
Freedom comes after full and sincere repentance. The teptation is gonna hit again because
the evil spirit leaves and tries to find a place then comes back knocking the door.
When that happens..dont open.
And keep it that way. Stay close to the Lord, keep in communion with the holy,
brethern and friends or family who love the Lord and follow Him in submission,
avoid all things that might light the fire. Not out of fear but out of caution.
Spend time with the Lord daily, Bible and prayer.
I find Romans 12 extra helful :
I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.
2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that.
