Anyone use a "dumb" phone?

Great for talking hardware, hype, and games outside traditional genres.

I'm pretty sure that a gaming forum is a terrible place to ask this, but I'm curious. Does anyone here use a "dumb" phone? That is, a phone that is not a smartphone.

We're looking to replace a few of them and I'm wondering if you have any suggestions.

Actually, yes. I carry my 2DS around for entertainments, don't want a huge phone bill, have no use for checking my emails on the go, and am generally a crotchity old man at 25. A smartphone is just wasted money for me.

That, and I have a personal dislike for the chumps who constantly have their phones in the hands, and only half pay attention to reality. >_>

Chozon, it sounds like we're a lot alike. :) I carry an iPod touch for email and internet, and a dumb phone for text and phone (mostly text). Data is just too expensive for what you get, especially with the abundance of free WiFi.

What type of dumb phone do you currently use? The keypad is dying on my Pantech Verse. http://www.pantechusa.com/phones/verse

Well. To be fair, I'm more annoyed by the people who will sit in a crowd and ignore them to play with their phone. I've been to birthday parties where it was essentially a group of people ignoring each other to focus on their phones. -_-

For awhile, I had a the AT&T Z432, and it worked great until I dropped it in a puddle. It still works; except for the speakers. Which is mildly important. >_> I liked it though. It was very small.

Currently, I share a phone with my mom, since I don't really need one full time. We've got an old Samsung Rugby III, which has survived drops, water, caulking, tile mortar, grease...and still works like new. No complaints. Probably break now that I've said that, though.

I switched to Republic Wireless over a year ago and it's been great. I have the talk/text only plan which is $10 a month plus around $2 in taxes. It is a non-contract provider but you do have to buy the phone outright. It is so hard to find a dumb phone these days, so I went with this great, cheap alternative where I don't have a data plan. The phone choices are smartphones, though. It looks like they only have two phone choices.
