Well, DayZ (the Arma 2 mod or the subsequent game release) is a post-apocalyptic, open world zombie survival game.

I haven't played either, but from what I've seen, Rust is a survival/building sim, with a focus on building and creating in the face of evil creatures, whereas DayZ is a standard "survive in the apocalypse" thingum.

I could be wrong though. :P

That sounds correct, there's no building in DayZ Standalone (and I think the mod only had some very basic trap-setting), only scavenging and player interaction. I bought DayZ a while ago and have had some fun with it, but I think I kind of want to wait until some more basic functionality is complete before I sink a lot of time into it (maybe I'll at least wait until zombies can't clip through walls anymore).

(I hear Rust has no zombies anymore, which is a point in its favor =P).

IMO the DayZ (Standalone) went down hill super fast. People were talking about it being a flop back in January. Now in July, with only minor(if any) updates to the game - I don't feel its ever coming back! Please prove me wrong DayZ.

Oh, and "Is it just me or is DayZ the oldest new game on the block?".

It's not just you, I fully agree.

Well I got all the stuff you NEED: food, water, weapons, clothing, and a Bible. So at that point I just quit... I did kill somebody before I stopped.
