And even if they don't believe the Bible is inerrant doesn't make their belief any less sincere. Just different.
It would be one thing if people had been believing and preaching this alternate Jesus and these alternate teachings since before this latest wave of cultural changes. They haven't. They've been popping up more recently as people struggle to find a way to justify their behavior by shoehorning it into Scripture and then pretending it always meant that.

Maybe they are struggling between their conscience and scripture. Painting people as just trying to justify their behavior isn't doing justice, to, say, all the people who do not have same sex attraction, but believe that homosexuality is fine.

So, what, doctrines should never change? There's some pretty apt examples of the church saying "whoops" and changing its mind, depending on your denomination.

But for the most part we aren't talking about official changes in Church doctrine. (Yes, I know a couple have, but we're talking more about individuals.) We're talking about people justifying this stuff with cute little platitudes like "God is love so whatever I do is fine." or re-interpreting Scripture passages to make it sound like certain sinful behaviors aren't sinful at all and never were.
