This has been all over my Facebook feed. Kinda surprised Nye agreed to it, but it looks like they'll both make out with some nice bank afterwards.

Same, although I'm almost positive that there was one person on my feed who excitedly reported that Nye was going to argue for creationism.Bruce_Campbell wrote:This has been all over my Facebook feed. You can't just say true story and then not tell the story....that's awesome!!!!ArchAngel wrote:Haha, that's true.
Did I mention I have a space bow-tie I got from Bill Nye?

This is going to be very interesting. I don't imagine Bill as the debater type, although if I remember correctly he had that YouTube video within the last year saying something like "teaching kids creation in school is flat out misleading and bad". Ken Ham on the other hand is a debater type and has devoted his life to creationism if I'm thinking of the right guy.
NICE!ArchAngel wrote:Not personally handed, but my wife and I signed up for this program where Bill Nye periodically puts together "goodie boxes" of things he finds interesting and since we signed up early, he included a space bow-tie. It's a prized possession.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the motive for all this.

I'd like to think that both want to create greater awareness for their causes. Fund raising for their various causes is certainly not out of the question, and I know much of Bill Nye's role as the CEO of the Planetary Society is to do exactly that, I don't think they're quite Ray-Comforting this one out. Even considering that it's held at Ken Ham's Creation Museum.

Can't say you're not captivated, though! I can't say I've seen Bill Nye debate anything personally with anyone before.ccgr wrote:http://www.charismanews.com/us/42306-cr ... -sells-out

I dunno maybe I'm just jaded, and maybe it is that the money is going to a good cause... It's just that a debate whose purpose is entertainment isn't likely to be all that useful on a deeper level.ArchAngel wrote:I'd like to think that both want to create greater awareness for their causes. Oh, there's no doubt in my mind that this is to raise money for Ken Ham's Ark project.
