Is DanceDanceRevolution still relevant?

With games like Just Dance, Just Dance 2, Just Dance Kids, and Dance Central - is DanceDanceRevolution still relevant?

Can you go back to step forward, left, right, and back? The recent Wii and PS3 versions added some hand movements to the formula.

But after dancing has the dance pad been surpassed?

I would say it has. It might do well in arcades still, but there's another dying breed.

I just think it has been surpassed. I think the franchise can return, but needs to leave the dance pad for the arcade. Dancing full body trumps step here. That's my opinion of course. :)

Yes. Because flinging your self around in seizure like fashion is better than having to actually watch your footwork.

I haven't played Just Dance but when the Hottest Party integrated the wii remotes I always disabled them. I'm still a fan of the original DDR games and have a hardware emulation PS3 because of it

It'll probably only be in arcades im guessing in a year or 2. Dance central is alright but i cant stand any of the songs. *hates rap/r&b and techno

I used to totally LOVE that game! I played it in school during P.E. Rocked the Beethoven song. ^_^

I don't think it's as popular as it used to be, but it's still fun. I used to play it in gym class.

DDR will always be my favorite. I find the motion sensor games are very hit and miss and, at least with mine, what you have to do to get the sensor to think that you're doing what your supposed to be doing on screen is completely different. Like Exaggerated movements. But with DDR, it's the same on all systems. Have you ever seen two people play the same song on DDR Side by Side? It's magical. Not so much with the Dance Central. :D
