My accoustic is a Fender CD60 i think it's called. My electric is an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. Both are great. My amp is a Line 6 Spyder.

I think we can all agree, the trick to real guitar skill lies in a knowledge of pick gauge.

Nay, It is in fact the type of spring used in the tremelo assembly :) And for non tremelo equiped guitars it is the size of the hole the strings are seated in at the body :D

Lasers. Lasers win all. Maybe some sort of fire and smoke too.

Also, the trick to music is having a heart to play it.

Because Jimi Hendrix would have sounded like Hendrix playing a First Act guitar through a bass amp.

You're all wrong. Air is the trick to playing music. And lungs with which to breathe it. And a brain to tell the lungs to breathe it. And a heart to fuel the brain and blood for the heart to fuel the brain with. And bones. And muscles and skin. And a stomach because you have to eat and an esophagus because you have to swallow and a mouth because you have to chew AND THAT'S WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY GUITAR.

I want to be brutally honest and completely serious.
As an artist and musician having experience in both classic and contemporary composition and theory, I believe the "trick" as you have said, is to live music. You have to let music consume you. You have to breathe music, think music, live in the music. You have to love music, and let in inspire you. The fact is, someone truly inspired and engulfed in music will have a certain unique and un-copyable taste. Music has to live in you. Music is my life, I live for Christ, and then music you know.

Oh, and a crap ton of practice. There's no getting around the tremendous amounts of work you have to do.

Sorry dude, but I believe you incorrect.

After all, if you have no heart to play music or live music, you have no heart to practice it. First hand experience proclaims this. There's also the fact that the Rebecca Black's and Lady Gag's of the world are incomparable to the Josh Garrels and Jimi Hendrices' of the world.
