I have Civ V and I preferred that to Civ IV, but I was new and I felt I wasn't able to grasp IV very well because I felt like after playing the tutorial I still didn't know anywhere near enough to play against computer opponents at normal difficulty. Also I really hated the unlimited stacked units, that was just stupid in my opinion.
