So, don't know if anyone plays EVE, personally love the game. Figured I'd leave this here though... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNn3GDBLyFc. For those not familiar with the game, (map) you want to look at the bottom left. Basically, a war is brewing that looks to be one of the biggest yet in EVE. TEST alliance along with most of the North of the map are deploying to the Delve region, and TEST has already stated its intentions to take Delve, Period Basin, and Querious (entire bottom left of the map). Between different features and depending on how dedicated the opposing sides are, this could last for all summer if not longer. This has even attracted PC Gamer and Kotaku's attention, and they got pilots escorted out to livestream parts of it.

If anyone is curious about it or wants more info, let me know and I will be more than happy to help out. Also if interested in testing the game out, can do the free 14 day trial, or hit me up and I can give you a free 21 day trial. They are slightly limited, but still give a good taste of how the game plays and really don't restrict much you will be doing in the first 14/21 days anyway.

I play, and last summer I was actually part of a corp that was a member of Chaos Theory Alliance, an alliance which held a very tiny part of the bottom left of the map. I quit during the school year, but I heard CTA's space fell without much of a fight, which is unfortunate because the people were really fun to play with. Anyway, I'm glad I got out while I had the chance because things went badly shortly after I left :P

The point of my story is that I was familiar with that part of space for a little while (not anymore, really) so I am curious as to what is going on with everything there right now. Sounds like a storm's brewin', though.

I actually just joined last summer. Didn't really get to paying attention to sovereignty until probably this winter, so not really sure what happened with CTA. As far as this war is going though, TEST certainly has the upper hand right now. Between numbers and I am sure they have larger capital and supercapital support, there is pretty much nothing that the other side can do to stop them successfully right now.

On a related note, it does surprise me how few people know about EVE or just haven't tried it out. I'll admit I haven't played WoW, but played Guild Wars for a bit. Not really my kind of game I guess. EVE's focus on the playerbase and the amount of sway the players have with the developer is awesome. Not to mention the developers themselves are pretty great when you talk with them. I guess it is more of a niche game?

EVE is a game I desperately wanted to love. But I just can't justify paying for it when I almost never get into the game.
Most of the time, I'll just be oogling my ship.

I can definitely understand that. It is the only game I have paid a subscription for and that's still something that feels strange to me.

Those ships are nice to look at, especially after the most recent changes. I think most of my enjoyment at this point is sitting on the profits of my work and watching the propaganda getting thrown back and forth by the major alliances as they square off. I am constantly impressed by the video editing, songs, and pictures that they come up with. That and the player events that seem to happen fairly often.

The player-centric economy and politics is definitely interesting and enthralling if you're in it, but sometimes a bit difficult to get involved in if, say, you just don't like people.

I like how you put that. Eve certainly gets boring fast if you don't like who you are playing with, or just don't like that type of game.

Hi Brothers and sisters including the very active OP cvhack who says he enjoys Eve.
I'm going to PM him to see if he's playing now and details.
A couple friends and I are thinking of abandoning our old corporations (like a guild) and starting one called Sons of Thunder. Super-overt names like "Jesus Cometh" can be a little problematic and, while I am not remotely ashamed of my faith and have no problem carrying my cross as is productive, even when it attracts abuse or is alienating, I think it is more effective in the long run to start with something (and the corp name is something people see very quickly about you) that, often, only fellow bible-readers will recognize. Draw 'em in, let 'em see what a good example we make, then shake 'em with the need to follow Christ after you've gained their respect.
So... Sons of Thunder I think it will be.
But we will be setting it up for a few days or so, so if you want to find me in-game, look my Character up.
Spelled:
Divmontru
(Not Zebulun for now... that char name may be taken; if not I'll make an alt char, common in EveOnline).

I'm referring to the Tranquility server, as it's the only one I've ever known.

If you've never played, you can PM me for a signup link that benefits both of us (even you get more of a reward for using a friend referral link; iy's mutually beneficial) but I am not posting it here openly on account of I don't want to look like a self-centered spammer just trying to get something out of it.
In fact if cvhack or Archangel can give you a referral link, ask them, too. I can give you one.

My main goal signing up for this forum is to connect with other Christian gamers who may sign on or back on to Eve and play with me, if not in a corp together, then at least with and open channel in the chat box to stay in touch throughout.

I am actually sometimes quite a solitary player, but I like small groups at times.
Archangel mentioned it isn't always the best game if you don't like dealing with people a lot, but I can definitely guide you to having a lot of fun these days solo or no-obligation to others, and there's no need to watch unwanted chat channels.

We reside in a relatively under-populated section of lower "high security" space of level 0.6 (more fun than 100% care bear environments when it comes to mining (I love solo or group mining in Eve and I launch drones to defend myself or I used to fly with an alt char tandem) but 0.6 isn't risky enough to be a real pain, PVP or PVE-wise.

It's almost like a well-kept secret of a star system called Jarshitsan. We're even at home in a station called a Theology Council that, while the lore of the game talks about them having some bogus faith, you write your own bio and bit of player-created lore by being there, and so of course we are Christian converts. The makers of the game even offer plenty of distinctly Christian crosses for those desirous of displaying their faith in their corp (they admittedly offer graphics for multiple, real-world faiths as it is a free, worldwide game just as the USA is a generally free country).

There really isn't any witchery or magic that I know of in the game. It's all space tech.

I LOVE the game and I indulge for a while and then go a while without and come back. In fact, that's one chord I thought I'd try to hit -- folks who haven't played in a while but miss it and feel it's a good time to play a month or two :)

Shalom
Happy Flying

and Godspeed to my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.

I too love Eve and am glad to hear you are jumping back in. I played for quite a while in null sec corps and a little while in wormhole space but haven’t played for a year or two. I quit mainly because the time commitment for what I was doing was too high if I wanted to do it properly and keep improving (rather than doing it half heartedly) and because, although I met many great people, I never really fell in with any true kindred spirits.

I hope you’re enjoying your time back in the game brother. Although it is not everybody’s cup of tea, there is not really any other game like it with the player-made history and politicking and how much there is to do - a true sandbox. And it looks awesome too 😁
