Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

I've started the initial write-up and I think the m orality section is going to be longer than the gameplay section. Sheesh. They really hit all the points.

The Impact of Interstellar Aliens

So, a lot of folks (myself included) believe that there is intelligent life on other worlds in the universe. Some folks (myself not included) believe that at least some of the governments of the Earth have been in contact with them. Discussions of whether or not there should be "disclosure" by gover...

Re: Comfort Verses

My favorite passage in the entire Bible-- the one that both brings me comfort in my salvation and the courage to stand strong-- is Mark 8:36-38: 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 Whoso...

Re: RIP Stan Lee

Yeah my wife and I watched Ant-Man and The Wasp the other night, and it was very sad as we realized that the Stan Lee cameo in that one may well be the last. I don't know if he'll be in the next MCU film.

Edit: Correction, he will be in Captain Marvel and in the next Avengers movie.

Re: Scrambling the Reactor: The Death of an almost 2 decade old D&D club.

Hah maybe. Well I met last night with Steve and, as I expected, he was perfectly reasonable and cool to talk with. We see things differently, of course, because we each have our own biases, but that's fine. I got to elaborate on some things that I hadn't been clear enough in my E-mails with Penny, a...

Re: Comfort Verses

Maybe not very unique, but I'm a huge fan of Psalm 23 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk throug...

Red Dead Redemption 2

Been playing it. Gonna review it. And I find it making me feel kind of uncomfortable. I liked the first one a lot, because at least you could play the character as a generally good guy if you wanted to. This game... You can still kind of do that but there are unavoidable parts of the game where you ...

Re: Trumps not singing hymns or saying the apostle's creed a HW's funeral

I read another one (but can't find it now) about him shedding a tear and praising God at this year's lighting of the tree. But if that's the case, why not sing hymns and say the Apostle's Creed? I'm at a loss here. Who knows? Maybe he's very self conscious about his singing voice and prefers to jus...

Re: Scrambling the Reactor: The Death of an almost 2 decade old D&D club.

Steve and I are going to have dinner on Monday, at which point I plan to talk to him about these things. I no longer feel like I can have a productive conversation with Penny, but Steve is incredibly reasonable, laid back and easy to get along with. I'm hoping that if I can get him to see my point o...

Scrambling the Reactor: The Death of an almost 2 decade old D&D club.

This happened in August of this year, and I haven't run a session of D&D since. My D&D group has always been made up of a variety of different people with different beliefs. We've had Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents. We've had Protestants, Catholics, Atheists, Mormons, Quakers. We...

Re: Trumps not singing hymns or saying the apostle's creed a HW's funeral

Frankly, I'd rather have someone like Donald Trump NOT sing the hymns or recite the Creed than to have the likes of Bill and Hillary Clinton doing it just for show. At least it's honest.

The only surprise for me is that the Clintons' tongues didn't burst into flames.

Comfort Verses

So with the way things are going out in the world, and so many aspects of God's Commandments under relentless and constant attack in pop culture, entertainment media, even the law in some places, what verses in Scripture bring you comfort? I was thinking maybe this would be a nice place to talk abou...

Thoughts? I'm rather shocked to be honest.
Why? Donald Trump never struck me as being particularly religious.
