Re: You're Free to Toke Up. But Don't.

How this article reads: "Oh, you can totally smoke weed if you want to when it's legal, but isn't it more fun to get on a high horse and look down your nose at folks who do? As Christians we're free to do whatever we want, but if you step out of line you'd better believe we'll pile on the guilt." I'...

Re: New York passes new abortion bill involving poison and third trimester terminations

I thought the focus was shifted when the discussion turned from abortion to what the founder of the Planned Parenthood believed about a century ago.

Re: New York passes new abortion bill involving poison and third trimester terminations

CS made the point I wanted to make, but it doesnt stip there. Martin Luther was a raving anti-semite; towards the end of his life he wrote a pamphlet titled "Of the Jews and Their Lies" that fueled a lot of hatred towards Jews in Germany (and yes, some historians think the pamphlet may have influenc...

Re: New York passes new abortion bill involving poison and third trimester terminations

Yeah, my issue is there's a lot of gray area between late term abortions and the zygote stage, as well as a lot of misinformation and dishonesty from many pro-life organizations. (Note that I'm not pointing at the average pro-life individual... I'm looking at the leaders of the movement.) Less than ...

Re: Indiana governor signs bill allowing businesses to reject gay customers

So now this happened.... Yeah, I'd heard of this guy, and I have zero sympathy for him. First of all, he recorded the call without the bakery owner's knowledge or permission, which is a crime in Florida. He then posted the video of the phone call online, revealing the name and location of the baker...

Re: Christian group in California no longer recognized because....

That's the reason I proposed the scenario I did. Sure, Christians have to follow the rules... but if other student groups didn't, I'm thinking that they wouldn't face the same ramifications, due to "political correctness." If any. It's the double-standard I'm complaining about, not just the singlin...

Re: Christian group in California no longer recognized because....

With the California example, here's one thing to think about - suppose someone white wanted to be the one in charge of an African American group. Would the group let him? Or would they accuse the white guy of racism and kick him out? Uh... the way I understand it that's not how it works, and beside...

Re: "Church attendance should be mandatory."

I didn't catch what her position was the first time I read this... when I was telling my wife about it I told her I thought she was part of the state legislature. The fact that she's a Senator is scary!

Re: "Church attendance should be mandatory."

This is pretty much the worst thing you could do for religious freedom in this country. Even if you forget about the horrible violation of my rights as a nonbeliever, what happens to people who are religious but not Christians? And even if every single person in the USA was a Christian, do we really...

Re: "Brothers and sisters... please buy me a jet!"

Creflo Dollar has been doing this kind of thing for a long time. I'm pretty sure he's one of the megachurch pastors who was the target of a Senate investigation for fraud a few years ago (along with Benny Hinn, etc.). He's dirty, and he's been dirty for years.

Re: Evangelicals and the "New Christian Left"

I think C$ said what I wanted to say better than I could have said it. I'm not going to bother posting any verses right now because I don't want this to sound like I'm picking at the Bible, but I will say that the verses that people use to support both sides of the argument are pretty vague and up f...

Oddly, same here. I recently acquired a PS3 and have been trying to build up my library. Any recommendations? Still, I would like a Wii U. Just to get current. There's such a thing as too much garlic? I LOOOOOOOVED The Last of Us. The reboot of Tomb Raider was great too. The Uncharted games are a l...

Re: Evangelicals and the "New Christian Left"

Since the question posed is "does the Bible support abortion", I think a good question is, what does it have to say about it? Personally, I don't think it makes a strong stance either way. In fact, you could argue from some passages that it makes a stronger case for than against because there are ma...

Re: Evangelicals and the "New Christian Left"

This article pretty much sums up my stance on abortion. The lady who wrote it is a former Christian (like me) and used to be hardcore pro-life (again, like me). It's a good read.
