Re: FaithLeaks targets Jehovah's Witnesses

Interesting how you direct that line of thinking. I'm not asserting that the website isn't targeting JW. I mean they're the only listing in that entire wiki. Nowhere did I ever say that the JW deserve to be targeted, but I'm also making the point that the erroneous doctrine of the JW poses an intere...

Re: FaithLeaks targets Jehovah's Witnesses

Odd how there is only one entry in their wiki.
That being said, is it really targeting JW? I mean they have enough erroneous beliefs and false doctrine to deal with.

Re: Evolution?

God can indeed use anything. It doesn't mean that He will or does. I am someone who is very scientifically minded. My course of study in university was steeped in science... yet I truly believe in the 100% absolute truth found in the bible and the historical narrative given to us from the first Yom ...

Re: Buddhism vs Christianity

As someone whose previous life culture (before being born again) was heavily steeped in Buddhism as well as a myriad of other pagan systems, I can say that buddhism is very nice on the surface. For a Christians, Buddhism can look nice on the outside, but we do have to look deeper and see the spiritu...

Re: Ecumenism

My reply said that the Holy Spirit WAS the primary source of interpretation and understanding for the scriptures. He is also our primary source of understanding for everything in life too. I was just speaking of scriptural understanding alone since scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit will never ...

Re: Ecumenism

Are you claiming to have a perfect knowledge of God's mindset? Nope, but I do claim that the Holy Spirit speaks to us directly and will guide our understanding directly. Scripture does say that we can have the mind of Christ when we are walking by the Spirit :). One thing that I think you may be st...

Re: Ecumenism

Oftentimes when we come to understand definitions in the light of Scripture and the Holy Spirit, the dictionary doesn't always cut it. For example, in Christianity, a cult is a group which claims to be of Christ but denies major aspects of scripture, even changing the deity and identity of Christ or...

Re: Bema Seat and hours spent playing video games

I feel you may have a very judgemental and religous view of the Father. Do you know that all of the consequence for all of our sins was paid already? Yes, by Jesus. It was His perfect and sinless blood that allows us to be called righteous by the father. He exchanged His righteousness for our sinfu...

Re: A Question for My Non-Catholic Friends

I believe that our Creator made a perfect world, and through sin it has become imperfect. Scripture says that our sin can even defile the land. I think that's a bit more accurate :)

Re: A Question for My Non-Catholic Friends

While their reformed theology/calvinist slant did not rear its head in that particular link, I do not disagree with their stance on JW/LDS/Roman Catholic Religion. So are you saying that Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and Roman Catholics are not "true" Christians? If so, can you see that you're basic...

Re: A Question for My Non-Catholic Friends

Some interesting and insightful posts here, friends. RemnantRD, nice to meet you! I appreciate your perspective, and will first respond by saying, in answer to your question, that no, believing in the authority of Scripture and the guidance of the Holy Spirit would not be considered sola scriptura ...

Re: A Question for My Non-Catholic Friends

https://www.gotquestions.org/ecumenism-ecumenical.html http://www.catholic.org/featured/headline.php?ID=635 I also took some issue with these links, as they basically take a severe theological slant, as RemnantRD points out. The first link is extremely dismissive of Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses ...

Re: A Question for My Non-Catholic Friends

Ecumenism is a tricky subject. While unity among Christians is something we should already have, we need to be careful what we unify with. I'm not a huge fan of gotquestions as they tend to have a theological slant, but they are right in the fact that we need to be careful in unity. One of the huge ...

Re: Evolution?

Erm... hate to burst your bubble, but that's what scientists think Neanderthals and their predecessors are. While they are still looking for "the missing link," which actually would firmly tie monkeys to humans, they do believe that these are the ancestors of humanity. What is interesting about all...

Re: Allhallowtide

Scripture doesn't tell us a lot of things. This you are correct about. However, scripture does tell us a lot of things which we can use to examine what we are doing to see if it pleases God. Yes, the original Sabbath for example was probably on Saturday. However, in the dynamic of the new covenant i...
